I think i must have bashed it or something because my analog stick is dead !
The button click works but NO directions are recognized.
(My guess is that the prongs have either snapped or just need to be resoldered)
Can anyone point me in the direction of a (uk) site or shop that would fix it for me ???
The only one that can do it so far is http://www.micromartltd.co.uk !

Thanks everyone !!

The GP2X doesn't have an analog stick?

You probably mean the digital one, and that can probably be cured by a quick solder reflow - visit your nearest electronics store and buy a cheap soldering iron.

I dont quite know what your getting at ? ??Digital one?? never mind !
Too be honest i have a soldering iron but i can't get the top of the case off to get to it.
I would much rather spend some money to get a person that no what the hell they are doing to do it for me lol

What Squidge is saying is the joystick on GP2X isn't analog, it's digital. An analog stick is like what would be found on a PS2 controller where the stick has a wide range of movement - eg. you push a little and the character walks slowly you push all the way and the character runs. The GP2X has a digital stick which only registers a direction on or off not the range in between.

It's really hard to explain how to fix it. The trick is to rotate the joystick back to where it belongs while pulling it up or pushing it down, slightly. Take the cap off the joystick, and the flat side of the metal should be facing your left hand. Then you have to work with it until it pops back into it's socket.

I've had to do it 3 times, and it always takes me 45 minutes or more to do it. You should feel a slight click when it goes back, and the joystick will be springy again. It's a real pain in the ass to do.

I had to do it once. It was a pain, but it worked. I gently used a pair of pliers.

Edit: bad link

I had this problem too, it surely got stuck, you need to open your gp2x and desolder the stick, open it up and un-stuck it yourself, if after the repair it gets stuck again you will need to repeat the same as above but this time you will need to remove the internal parts of your stick (a spring, the stick and a semi-round shaped metallic part) the last part i mentioned is the one to blame, to fix the stick you'll need this part to be as roud as possiblev(from the top part) and check if it can be turned 360 degres inside the stick case with no stucking, for this you can use a fine sand paper.

EDIT: You only need to desolder the pins of the stick that prevents the stick case to be opened (only 2 pins) and those pins are ground with a little patiente it can turn into a simple job, i done this because turning and clicking the stick didn't work for me it was pretty much stuck.

I tried the stuff on the other thread, It worked a bit but it still doesn't work !

Can someone tell me how to get inside the front of the console please ?

At this point, I recommend that you send it off for repairs. No offense, but if you can't figure out how to get inside the front of the console, you probably won't be able to fix whatever's wrong with it, either. That doesn't mean you're dumb or anything, I probably couldn't do it either. Just pay for one of the repair experts to do the job for you.

There are no screws?
What dya mean ?

To get to the front part of the PCB, you need to first remove the glossy black plastic (You know the one that's around the GP2X, with the power led on wtc.), it comes off by pulling from the sides, after that you can remove the PCB, lift it and pull towards you, just make sure it comes off the screw holes.
