Right now I'm waiting on my GP2X to arrive, but...

I was wondering what firmware I should probably use and which version to use. Also I was wondering about raising the clock speed of my GP2X, as that seems to be very commonplace, and necessary for running much software.

Is there any other information I should know regarding firmware upgrades and overclocking, or any other software I might need (for video or music)?

Thanks

You should read up more on the GP2X, http://wiki.gp2x.org/ is a good place to start.

Whatever firmware ships with your GP2X is fine, as long as it's at least 2.1.*. Overclocking is done by software, so you don't need to do anything special. Each GP2X has its own overclock limit, the average minimum is 240Mhz.

The built-in video player is very nice, and there are quite a few homebrew music players, like CraigAmp and OldPlay. Search http://archive.gp2x.de/ for more files.
