Edge is opensource port of doom engine which is capable to run doom, doom 2, ultimate doom, plutonia and that other map pack that i forgot. It uses opengl engine and can run on windows and linux. It also has limited boom compatiblity. It also has it's own easy to use scripting language for community modding. I would really like it to be ported to pandora. Homepage is http://edge.sf.net

i bet someone will port it, since its a pretty advanced doom engine, though i prefer doomsday, i find it even more up to todays standards, you should try it if you haven't already

Yeah i have tested jdoom and it sucked. It's for people who prefer eye-candy over features

Is Vavoom possible? It handles Doom, heretic, hexen and strife pretty well. And there are texture and model packs to use with it that look ok without going too nuts.

well, all i want is an engine that handle strife, and doomsday. i dont think these others are really neccesary, but again, that's just my opinion.

I don't want to look like a traitor, but the ideal Doom port for the Pandora would be ZDoom, mainly because you'd have Doom, Strife, Heretic and Hexen all in one program, and wouldn't have to worry about porting over OpenGL code to OpenGL ES code.

srry, i meant a port that plays strife, AND Doomsday.

[offtopic] hey do you think zdoom on the gp2x would be possible, cuz that would be AWESOME!!!

Doomsday is not a game. And zdoom is fine too, but it uses software rendering. Edge uses opengl which means better performance

I agree with schnitzelboy. Doomsday would be cool along with a port of svstrife. That would cover most bases when it comes to old fps games. Vavoom handles everything Doomsday does as well as strife but doomsday seems nicer, and svstrife is good enough imo

Also, these would be cool:

Not doom related, but I hope some of these these make it to Pandora as well.

I'd love to see any sort of doom port on the Pandora. But, even more then doom, I'd like to see some sort of app that could play FPS Creator games.

Hell yes! Are those type of graphics going to be possible on pandora? And if so why stop at fps. A good racer, 2d/3d scroller, a mario64 type adventure game. Anything is possible with a good flexible game engine.

Please god no fps creator games. It's for people who cannot program and the games often turn out to be crappy

I wonder if the Skulltag source is available. There's nothing like playing custom levels with a small community of people that are on almost everyday.

Edit:
Oh yeah, here's a video.
