What is the difference between porn and prostitution? Arent both sex in exchange for money? I understand how brothels get around the laws legally, but what about porn? it's a guy paying a girl to have sex with him on camera.

Porn is porn dammit
and some say that pr0n is porn and that it involves .cx of some sort
i hope they all die

Porn star means you are a glorified whore imo. You arent an "adult actress", you're a fucking slut.

As for being a prostitute, I suppose they are very very similar, but not quite the same.

i don't think you should say stuff like that until you've tried to do it ;)

most people having sex on camera would look horrible. they have to try and make it look good. also getting aroused (or pretending to be) in front of a camera is pretty difficult..

see celebrity sex tapes for proof... or maybe not, seeing as they're all crap.

Ever hear of "domestic engineer" as apposed to "house keeper" or "maid"? I always lol at that

You're saying that because woman (what I'm about to say involves women ONLY), spread their legs and suck cock, they're getting "aroused"? Come on, that takes nothing other than scruples ;)

As for men:

WE. ARE. MEN!

Men are fucking retarded (no offense im a guy as well), but they get boners at hot chicks and so if the opportunity arises, they have sex and have no trouble getting it up. After all, it's these woman who do everything to arouse them in the first place, right? They pretty much sit back and get an erection, and let the games begin.

IMO if Prostitution was made "legal" it make the country a better place the way Id have it is.

-street walking is Illegal I.e Brothels only.

-Screening every 2 months for STD's

-50% increase to pay for taxes (finally stop closign the bloody hospitals)

-trained in multiple techniques

Id also train all my "maritial liason officers" (hehe) into therapists/psychiatrists just incase they want someone to talk to.

each worker is allowed to refuse a client if he/she knows they are bad for business.

Of course thats just my opinion, but as George carlin said "where is there more rape? the equator or the south pole.... the answer being the south pole the people around the equators are too hot and naked and just generally too busy having sex with each other to rape anyone."

Speaking up for women, I would NEVER get involved in any kind of porn. I have a brain and can make money using that instead of sex. In my honest opinion, the girls in the porn industry are too dumb to do anything else and have very low scruples.

I'm not saying that the porn industry should be stopped as a lot of men get something out of it if you know what I mean, and that means we have less frustrated men on the planet, that can only be a good thing.

Back to the original question, do I think that prostitution is the same as working in the porn industry? I think it is the same. They both have their unglamorous darker side and both involve sex as the focus. Except that porn is filmed and someone else makes a LOT of money from the results.

For those who actually watch porn regularly, don't kid yourself that everything you watch is consensual sex as I have heard horror stories about girls who have been forced to make adult movies.

On another point, sexual appeal is being used everywhere by the advertising industry to sell products, or by us all to get us through the day. I myself will wear something low cut and glam myself up if I am having a meeting with a client. Everyone flirts, some more than others. There's nothing wrong with it and it's fun!

On a basic level, yes. They're the same - Women (& men) are getting paid for sexual acts.

The difference is that [most] porn is legal.
That means it can be regulated and generate taxes.
The criminal element is being forced out.

I don't pretend to know why people get into either business but the porn business is so big now that regulation
and proper business practice is common-place.

Many of the 'stars' of yesterday are the producers of today.

I don't know how many ex-prostitutes go on to be madams or make enough money to set their own companies up.
But when it's illegal in most countries it won't be too many.

*If* my daughter was going to get involved in the sex industry I know which I'd rather she chose.

Yes there are lots of horror stories floating around, but there are reputable businesses as well.

Just a small note.
Warmfluffy: You are not 'speaking up for women' you are speaking for yourself and it is that 'I know' attitude that makes a lot of political-correctness motivated mistakes

For some balance see the stars side
http://www.counterpunch.org/nathan12112004.html
http://www.vibereview.com/browse/page/Inte...+Stormy+Daniels

and here's the horror stories
http://www.oneangrygirl.net/myth9.htm

and Googlefight says
"porn is good"-22,900 results
"porn is bad"-17,700 results
another test
"porn is prostitution"-677 results
"porn is art"-4,690 results

What I think it comes down to is whether certain people are going to be affected by watching porn and go on to do bad things.
But you could also say the same thing about horror movies, thrillers, rock music, rap music, comic books...

I'd love to live in a pink & fluffy world with no sharp edges or dark corners.
