Yeaaaaaa!!!

Finally after some months, I decided to order my GP2X with full accessories...

But right now...while it doesnt arrive, I still have one doubt...

The movie player is capable of displaying subtitles? witch format?

I never saw any comment or screenshot with subtitles... :(

Thanks

Thanks

From experience, it uses the SAMI subtitle format, which is a small turnoff since it's not exactly easy to convert to. If you can, fix your subtitle format either by hand or with a couple tools (not sure on the names, use VideoHelp to find everything you'll need), then convert to SAMI.

Fixing it up with the tools will make converting a lot easier. Also, keep in mind, the GP2X only likes displaying 50 or so characters onscreen at one time, so you'll have to watch out since your subtitles might come out odd during playback.

you can also reencode videos using pocket divx to have the subtitles encoded together with the videos. From my experience the subtitles looks really nice.

I expected to use my normal divx movies... without wait several hours. to reencode :( :(

At the most , I was thinking in convert from SRT to SMI

I've been watching episodes of Bleach on the train alot, I'd assume any regularly subtitled anime will play just fine and the legibility is just fine (assuming the subtitler didn't use a small font. It hasnt happened often.)

SRTs work for me...
I second that, no need to convert anything. The rendering isn't that bad either (in fw1.4)

I am now a proud owner of an GP2x (full accessories)!!! :D

Divx plays very smootly and shows all my srt subtitles.... ok, more or less...

some of them are replaced by [subtitle error] or something like this...

I read somewere that there are a limitation abou the number of chars..

Can anyone confirm this?

If this is true, ther are any software to fix the subtitles? If the are any, I'll problably make one, shouldn't be so hard...

Thanks guys....

The only weirdness I have noticed is that if a line of subtitle in the SRT is too long, it will wrap to a new line on screen - which is fine, but it does it in the middle of a word, which can be a little confusing if the dialogue is moving fast.

Otherwise, it works pretty good. I have no complaints.
