Does anyone have issues with the right nub only moving in a small area in the upper left corner?
This is only with the quake3 nanogl version, not the ioquake3 version.

Very odd!

The issue I've been having for ages was..

ioq3 -- ran fine, but some transparent walls. (no cheating folks!)

q3 -- using right nub for mouse (to get past first screens), and was trapped in top left. When patched the code to get past that, would crash during level load.

These files were from a patchedup Windows build from years ago. (I also have original Linux Q3 from 1999, woowoo, but a real pita to get up to date :)

--

Just caved and bought fresh Q3 from Steam for $19.99CDN (including Team Arena), and popped them onto SD .. q3 works fine now (mouse is okay, game loads without crashing.)

some more tech detail of interewst to pickle and me, but for the most.. seems random weird problems might just be cfg or pak file variations?

So just copy the files in the baseoa (in open arena zip) to quake3 (or whatever it is) and it should work right?

Doesn't for me... :(

ah, other people are having issues with the nubs too.
it's completely unplayable for me... they seem to move in random and erratic directions!

you move them all directions to get them calibrated?
is the quake mouse speed set to high? set to the lowest setting

for some reason it takes 30 seconds for either the dpad or the left nub to start registering, and that happens after every time i die.
i have lowered the sensitivity and it seems far less erratic, but the "not registering for 30 seconds" issue is still present of course.

i can confirm that this is a q3 problem. the left nub is completely useless once you hit it the char will automatically move in one direction and you can´t prevent it, unless you restart...
and the right nub is also weird when you just want to look vertically left or right, you often look right up/down or left up/down.
and in the menue it´s also extremely difficult to aim the menue points because of the weird cursor acceleration, i think it changes its value all the time.

i hope you can fix that soon and i´m optimistic you can do that. you guys done a great job so far. :)
but i´m wondering about that there are 2 quake3 versions. so why not focusing on one version instead of two which are both only half-baked? ;)

Be _sure_ to crank the mouse speed down, or the nubs will be useless for sure.

For me ..

With mouse speed down, right nub can work for mouse-look okay (ie: to look around.)

Left nub gets 'stuck' a lot; if I press forward, the guy will be stuck going forward forever until I manage to cancel it with another forward, or perhaps dpad.. I forget.

I use dpad for move, and right-nub for look, and triggers for fire and weapon rotate.

I don't touch the left nub, for lava poors from the sun when you do that :)

(Sorry pickle, I never thought to look into the code)

yeah i always use the dpad so i never really fixed the left nub. I must not be sending a button release event when the nub changes direction or is released.
