Now that we're on the final run and paymemts are being taken, is there a chance we can order a breaout board as well?

There was an much earlier thread I think from Mweston (may be wrong) in which they discussed what features people wanted - expect the breakboard after the first batch when things have settled down.

It's probably going to sold as a cased unit - dont know how much for though

Thanks for the reply.

I searched for this thread, but couldn't find it. I'm also interested in this breakout board, did I correctly see two serial ports on the dev.expansion board? And does the pinheader provide parallel I/O?

Also, one or more cheap D/S analog to digital converters and a small LED-array would really complete the package. However, I don't really know how far you're willing to take such geekyness.

I figure the casing would be similar (in length and width) to the Pandora itself, so one could place the Pandora neatly on top of it...

I really would like to see a Beagleboard-like version of the Pandora: no screen, no battery, no keyboard or controls, just a box with a HDTV-out port, ethernet and lots of USB ports. I'd buy lots (well, more than one anyway  ) of them to use as behind-the-tv computers, for media serving and light computer use. Brando has a nifty wireless keyboard that'd go nicely with a "Pandeagle".

Don't get me wrong, the Beagle is a fine effort, but Panda's hardware specs are just a tad better ATM.

Karel - I think I remember Craig stating that there was a possibility for either the boards or a hackers edition of the Pandora may be available at some point to allow those who wanted to, to use a Pandora in the way you wanted.

But I have a feeling you will probably end up with a Pandora PCB and a breakout type board to meet your needs.

For me the Pandora is as good as it gets as it stands

Yeah, probably. Still, it would be nice if they brought out a finished product, something like the Linutop (I have one, but it turned out to be seriously underpowered as a video playback device; most of my DiVX and Xvid files stutter badly when played by Linutop's supposedly "optimized" VLC player).

You might be able to get it to work with MPlayer - or ffdshow on XP. They're significantly lighter on CPU usage than VLC is.

But on a Geode, don't expect stellar performance.

Hm. Mplayer does work without a hitch on my PepperPad 3, and that's the same processor family (maybe even identical, I have to check). I'll give it a shot.
