Best Torrent Sites?

People will tell you not to talk about piracy even though technically you haven't mention anything illegal. Just warning you thats all.

They are idiots if they say that this is piracy related as it isn't.
The sites however do have a lot of piracy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes those sites are good but there aren't really anymore really good ones (other than specialist torrent sites).
Best use IRc or Emule if you can't find something on bittorrent.

OR GOOGLE

you just have to make sure that the words you search for are unusual.
and add forum or messageboard as a word so that you get other people who are also looking for the same thing.

this is however now piracy related...

suprnova is my first stop, but just in case you didnt know (apologies if ya did) the latest edonkey (yep its no longer overnet its back to edonkey again!) supports edonkey, overnet and bit torrent files so thats probably just about your best file sharing program...though shareaza looks more user friendly (its not btw)

Just a question - how many people here have regularly used bittorrent for downloading NON-copyrighted material?

And you try to tell me this isn;t related to piracy/copyright infringement? Not closing the thread, cos I want to hear wheat people have to say...

Slightly offtopic

Does anyone know where I can buy DBZ/GT dvds in the uk? Too many to download (I know where to get DBZ 1-260 though).

What happened to Goodroms heaven? ( www.grh.se ) Small site. Good torrents. Nothing current (upto n64 and mame). Lovely goodsets.

I've used bittorrent a few times to download free stuff from sites without much bandwidth, B3ta's brilliant video newsletter is one that comes to mind.

Suprnova seems to end up with just about every torrent going but i like filesoup.com, it's friendlier.

I see it a lot on slashdot where submitters often torrent up large movies, games or other files that would usually be directly linked to. A speedruns site offers movies as torrents because of their size, while a Halo speedrun (yes, again) content used bittorrent for the results.

What digital media is NOT copyrighted nowadays? Even freeware, and Linux, have their own copyrights.

I download a ton of fansubbed anime, which is not illegal in Japan, its country of origin, if it hasn't been licensed outside of Asia. It's also not really illegal in America, but lawyers get nervous of course.

torrents are actually best for legitimate stuff. Its very easy to track down whos downloading of a torrent. Many websites now are starting to host trackers for file downloads. Ausgamers, for example.

Its a cool technology, and the (legitimate) uptake on it has been pretty damn quick.
