Was listening to a radio discussion about it this morning.
BBC Micro, which introduced many back in the day to BASIC, are back with a new Micro:bit computer, similar to the Pi, is being targeted at the youth as an entry level to coding and understanding hardware.
I think as of today, they are being rolled out to all Year 7 kids over here, which is good.
Aimed at 11/12 year olds initially
https://www.microbit.co.uk
Some nice courses on that site too, like Python, and some game tutorials.
Soon non-students will be able to order one too, but at the moment, only the schools are getting them
And a bit more info if you're interested: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35863859
