Hi, When I follow the guide here, and then try to save the file as an AVI file in Virualdub(any version - I've tried most of them) it simply says "No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format". What does this mean and How can I fix it? I am trying to encode a 22 min South Park avi episode.

the audio format must not be supported by Vdub
you should use a software named : avi2wav to extract the sound part of the file to a .wav file then you will be able to reconvert it to a normal PCM wav file usable with Vdub (you will have to set Vdub to re-encode the file to MP3)

to convert audio files you should use : dbPowerAmp (freeware)

see you

yea, its a really nice program, but now suddenly you have to pay for the mp3 codec

This might take a while :p

Get back to you as soon as possible

EDIT: Bummer, that message in DBPowerAmp has come up about the MP3 stuff. That's a real shame that it's not free anymore

Don't listen to them. It means you don't have the audio codec that the movie uses. Just find out which one it uses and download it.

edit: Yeah, you worked it out. But this is the way you're supposed to do it :p
