    COVID-19 / Coronavirus Pandemic

Yes, the main ingredient of most hand sanitisers in a short chain alcohol most commonly these days ethanol, or perhaps methanol, diluted somewhat, and with some kind of gelling agent. I'm not sue what would make that burn blue, probably the gelling agent getting caught in the flame, if it isn't...

    War in Ukraine

Yeah, not really proxy shared as proxies generally have an identified target. That's why they're called company deposits; you put your money in and there's only really a promise that you can turn it into a real share at some point in the future. Big surprise that big russian firms were happy...

    Release Mighty Mike

It looks like Commando. I take it it's not as straightforward as that then.

Steam Deck (using SteamOS) handheld by Valve

Ah okay, it wouldn't surprise me if console ports limited the effective draw distance to keep up the frame rate on fixed hardware.

    COVID-19 / Coronavirus Pandemic

But lots of people who have long covid never went to hospital and just suffered at home. I'm not sure how that fits with your explanation

Steam Deck (using SteamOS) handheld by Valve

You can see more GUI on the steamdeck than you could playing it on your xbox (series x?)? If you mean the overlay that shows your things like score and what gun you've selected, that's odd as I'd expect all that to be present and correct on xbox as well as on the PC port which you're playing on...

    The Lottery and Gambling Thread

Personality does change as we age, and a big part of that is risk taking, in that younger people are much happier to take risks than older people are. Perhaps gambling fits as a risk taking activity.

    The Caring Corner :)

It does sound to me like internal brusing. That often feels better before all the fun colours of bruising come to the surface to be taken away by your veins and pumped to your kendeys for your to piss away. Only trouble with that theory is that you;re usually well aware when it happens.

    The Communication Cube

I assume that's a reply to my last post further up the page. Yes, I did propse turning everything off, but I can live with just one 2G antenna powered up and everything else off, including all of most networks, assuming it turns out you only need one.

    Sporty Sporting Sports Thread

Max Verstappen has finally won the F1 drivers championship, but only found out about it on the podium after the race. And this time round there were no shenanigans against his win, other than Mercedes being surprisingly crap this year and Red Bull being surprisingly excellent both in terms of...

    Pandora still in repair

I think today's news post should help explain why things haven't been running at 100% at the dragonbox shop.

    Not a volcano... but...

Getting AESS working is good news, although if he's so far got it working on an older kernel, that's not the end of the road. But hopefully he understands the interface to the kernel well now so hopefully it won't be too much unexpected work to port it to the latest LTS kernel. To me at least...

Apparently it's U+1F728. Seems the forum has a rule to exclude 0xIF unicode, cos it seems to have sone it to you as well.

    The Communication Cube

That works for mars and venus, but not for earth, whose symbol is and doesn't have any external things at an angle at all. It kind of holds for mercury too (☿) if you take it that two appendages means it doesn't rotate at all (except about the sun, it's phase locked). But if certainly can't...

What are you playing this weekend/these days?

I've never found stealthy zelda missions to be anything as complex as Metal Gear Solid stealth missions. I can't remember the first wind waker dungeon myself, but I don't remember it being nearly as frustrating as I find the Metal Gear Solid games.

    Beta ptitSeb's Beta Lair

Seaching the PXML here I can't find the string 2.6.0.17 anywhere in it. According to the description tag it ships with gcc 11.2.0, but I can't run the executable on this system, so I can't confirm that (strings shows it has a string 'gcc verision %s %s' but without the debug symbols I can't see...

    The Communication Cube

I may be mistaken, but I always thought it was possible to run the emergency number without even having a sim inserted. That suggests that if it can't find it's tethered network, it'll check what else is out there. So you only need to leave one 2G cell tower powered up to handle all emergency...

    Absurdism corner

I don't get this one. The sign says it's for large print and audiobooks. It's unusual for bookshops to have more than one book category on signs but audiobooks don't have print, large of not, so I assume this has to be two categories put together. Perhaps that's the joke though, and I just...
