Rainy day - Game project. A practical approach to complete it.

One day I might get back to this but I would never ever try coding it in C++ again! Working on a new game in Unity3D now and it's a fantastic tool, too bad it doesn't export for Pandora (or Pyra) though, unless you're running Android of course ;)

    Release DosBox EX - Ultimate

I'm having a problem with Dosbox lately... For some reason it's really slow... Overclocking the cpu doesn't work :/ it runs the same at 800mhz as it does on 600mhz. I used to play these games just fine a while ago! At one time I managed to get it working in MiniMenu but when I tried it again...

Beautiful landscapes are prettier than portraits

I got an 8 inch tablet with 1280x720 resolution and it's already hard to see the pixels so on a 5 inch display you really don't need 1080p. I'm totally fine with a "HalfHD" screen  :)

Pandora Are you an active developer on Pandora?

@iprice: Yeah I got it too on my DSi (I still keep DSiWare on my DSi even though I have a 3DSXL). I wanted to try and make a simple 3D game/test (3D like in the original Wolfenstein game) but I had some "divide by zero" errors I didn't seem to be able to solve... Oh well I might try making...

Pandora Are you an active developer on Pandora?

I'm not really active anymore on Pandora development... But just earlier this week I found out about an app for DSi/3DS to write games in Basic, It's quite cool. It made me more interested in learning/using Basic and that's when I remembered GLBasic. So I downloaded it and I was surprised at how...

    Rainy Day - Game Project

There is indeed nothing special about the code :) Actually I would recommend anyone that wants to continue this project to rewrite it! I started programming this when I was still at school, I've learned so much since then and half of the code is old and could really use some optimising!

Rainy day - Game project. A practical approach to complete it.

Archibald is also really busy with other projects... That's also one of the reasons we couldn't continue work (it wasn't just me)

    Rainy Day - Game Project

This might be bad news for most of you but I don't think I will ever finish Rainy Day... :( I've just been busy with so many other things. I mainly do HTML5 and Unity3D stuff now... Here's a link to a ZIP file containing the source code and all resources of the game, feel free to do your own...

    Rainy Day - Game Project

The reason I'm not just releasing it (for someone else to finish it) is because I haven't abandoned it yet! I always seem to forget the people that are actually looking forward to the game ^^' so yesterday I redid a big part of the reorganization of the code ;)

    Rainy Day - Game Project

Kind of bad news... I lost one of my USB sticks a while ago which had the only copy of the latest version of Rainy Day on it :( Still have the version before I did the reorganising of the code so I didn't lose that much but still....... I really don't know when I will ever find the motivation...

    Rainy Day - Game Project

Thanks for the feedback, Steve :) I haven't been doing much programming on the game :( Been busy with work and some HTML5 programming... I should really get back to this and also try to do some of the graphics myself, else it'll never be done...

    Rainy Day - Game Project

I totally agree on that! ;) I did the code reorganisation I wanted to do for quite a while :D Never really had the courage to do it but now I did! Now I'll finish the colour picking stuff, currently still using place holder graphics, which will be replaced with nice ones whenever Archibald...

    Rainy Day - Game Project

Just a short message to say the project isn't dead ;) Just worked on it a bit more this evening (added the visuals for picking a colour from a monster) and I came to the conclusion that I should really reorganise some of my code! I really hope I can work on it some more this weekend!

Pandora Unity for Pandora game development?

I got the free standard version of Unity + the standard Android and iOS licences they gave away for free a while ago, I did make some test apps for my android tablet so maybe I could try out android on pandora and see if it runs :) EDIT: Good news guys, it's working :D Still doing some more...

    Rainy Day - Game Project

Thanks Gruso ^_^ I'll also still have to do some optimisation cause it runs slower on my Pandora (600mhz) than on PC (it does run nicely at 800mhz but I can't expect people to switch to 800 just to play my game). I'm sure it has to do with some alpha/transparancy I'm using and SDL that is a...

    Rainy Day - Game Project

Wow, I managed to work some more on Rainy Day today :D I decided it would be cool that the frozen/stoned/colourless monsters act like the containers, so when you hit them they fall apart in enemy bits :P SO that's done, only need the the graphics for it (using a placeholder spritesheet now)...

    Rainy Day - Game Project

Thanks :D I use a Bamboo One, a very basic tablet, A6 format and no buttons :)

    Rainy Day - Game Project

It's a digital painting : Wacom tablet + Photoshop + Standard round brush + Reference picture + A lot of patience :) Anyway, Yesterday I did part of the code for the color picking, the monsters now "turn to stone" when hitting them with the grabbeam. Too bad I don't have much time to work on...
