Ideas For A Gp32X.com Summer Competition

Here's a small idea. If a submission scores above 70% on average, then it should automatically qualify for a small honorary prize (maybe reserve 20-25% of the pot for this). I think this will encourage participation and reward quality software, since there are always more nice applications than...

    Zam

Thanks jbrodack! At the moment it's pretty much the same as the last preview, but a lot readier internally for becoming a nice game. My idea notebook grew a little in the meantime, too :)

    Zam

A small update. I rewrote everything this May, and things are looking good again. There's tile lighting now, and I think it runs faster than it did before (fps in the screenshots is from my laptop, not on gp2x). Thanks, I won't forget when things are ready :) I hope so, the plan is to...

How Are All The Linux Newbies Coping?

I think two bars make everything easier to manage, actually. Why clutter the task bar with system tray, menus, and quicklaunch icons? I like keeping those less frequently clicked items out of the way.

Caanoo - The New Gph Console?

Yes, and they should accept bricked Wiz prototypes with 2 dpads for trade-in too :D Seriously, as long as it'll be 100% backwards-compatible with Wiz applications that run at 320x240, it's all good. This is like the transition from F-100 to F-200, if anything Wiz owners should be happy that...

    Pacman

This is nice, looking forward to Wolf3D's 20th :D If you click Insert Coin after the game starts, you get multiplayer controlled with WASD.

    Pandora Killed The Wiz

Responding to earlier replies in this thread - is there interest for an introductory Wiz/GP2X development guide? What I have in mind is detailed steps on setting up all the tools on Linux and Windows, the basics of C and SDL, and a simple game tutorial at the end. I wouldn't mind throwing...

    Just Received My Gp2X Wiz

You need to put a shortcut file in the NAND/game/ or SD/game/ that points to Animatch, and the quickest way is to use INImaker. Just put it on SD card and run it with the Launcher :)

GP2X Want To Start Developing For The Gp2X Wiz

    Opposite Lock 3D Racing

Runs well, thanks for bringing it over to Gp2x :) There aren't too many racing games, so this is very nice to have.

    Hyperion, A 2D Platformer.

Nice game zzz :) The graphics and music fit very well. I'll keep an eye out for updates and more levels. By the way, depending on what toolchain you use, a Wiz port could be as easy as removing the -static flag in front of the libraries you link with.

    Beta Appstore Testing (Again)

Is that how you plan to repay those who give you free apps they make in their spare time?

    GP2X Gp2Xsand For Wiz

In this case, it really was. The original game did not use any code specific to the GP2X's hardware, and all the controls mapped directly to Wiz as you'd expect. If you'd like to get started, here's a short summary of what I did, feel free to ask questions: 1. First, you'll need a toolchain...

    GP2X Gp2Xsand For Wiz

Hey, just saw this. I compiled it with the Open2X toolchain and it seems to run great. Please test it, if it runs okay I will upload it to the archive. Download link To install, extract the game folder to SD and run WizSand from the games menu. Instructions are in game/WizSand/readme.txt

    Nether Dimensional Runner 1.1

My favourite Wiz game from PACC, for sure :) Very nice job on the graphics, you're right screenshots don't do them justice. I'm curious, how long did it take you to make it from start to finish?

Who Is Going To Get Ubuntu 10.4 Today?

Up until a few days ago I was set on dualbooting the new Ubuntu along Debian. But it seems like the latest Debian stable (5.0.4) fits me so well, that I'm starting to lose interest. Maybe I'll wait for a few months, as so many recommend, and let them iron everything out some more. I like the...

    3 Wiz's For Sale

I think I gave you useful feedback. Add a compass to the truck to make the game less chaotic. Polish up the upgrade interface. Fix the bug where a non-existing menu item is highlighted when you first start the game. Not many people bother to leave as much as a little thank you note though, which...

    Wiz Programming

Make sure you checkout this thread from a while back, there's a lot of helpful advice in there. I agree you should start with a simple language on PC, like Basic or Python. C is the bomb, but not very encouraging when you're just getting started :)

    Meritous Wiz Port

This is defintiely one of the top Wiz games. Very fun, dungeon crawler meets bullet hell :) So, did anyone manage to finish the game (ever)?
