Gifts And/or Souvenirs From The Us

Since I got to Japan my friends in the US have been pestering me to send them all sorts of things from here ... it's such a pain to send packages internationally, though. One person wants 'Qoo', a strange Apple-flavored soda made by the Coca-Cola Company that's only sold in Japan. My favorite...

    No More 275mhz Units?

Likely so. In fact, almost definitely so. And this article is just FULL of false information. Not just the CPU bit. Look at this: That's an outright lie. Most users get 5 hours or less on 2 high-end batteries like Duracell 2650 MaH cells or Energizer 2500MaH ones-- that's running games. Playing...

    No More 275mhz Units?

It isn't that simple. GPH didn't make the system to be a linux hacker's wonderland, they chose Linux because it was free and didn't even pay attention to the implications of the GPL. It wasn't for anything to be open-source or hackable; in fact every bit of source code we have, had to be fought...

    Building A New Computer

Buying the highest-end video card is always a bad idea, because you get ~5% more performance for 100-300% more money. The same goes for CPUs. I strongly recommend the 7800GTO. Pour extra money into plenty of HDD storage. On a college connection, you will probably be downloading a LOT and burn...

    Real Hot Stuff

MicroSD cards falling out of SuperCards is a well documented issue. There's nothing quite as depressing as losing an expensive card loaded with all your media and games that you spent hours getting just how you wanted it. Especially aggravating for me since no shop nearby carries MicroSD, I have...

    Building A New Computer

You didn't say what you intend to DO with the machine-- this is very important info. In most cases, it's better to buy at the low-end and just overclock a bit for the best performance, as high-end parts generally get you very little bang-for-the buck. For example, an Athlon 64 3000+ can cost you...

    No More 275mhz Units?

I'm very straightforward; I don't believe there is any point in beating around the bush unless it will cause serious harm to a friend or loved one... I consider the chance of offending strangers on the internet's preferred game hardware to be a risk of minimal consequence. I understand your...

    No More 275mhz Units?

I greatly appreciate your mature reply. A response in this manner is extremely uncommon on this forum. Of course you are fully entitled to your views on the issue, as am I to my own. I will reciprocate your statement in that I hope my remarks did not strike you as a personal attack of any sort...

    No More 275mhz Units?

These cards are clearly labelled as overclocked all over the packaging. They even have names like 'BFG 6600GT OC'. You can't get much more obvious than that. gp2x.co.uk states they are a new version of the GP2X with 275 MHz processors. That is a flat-out lie- this isn't even an arguable point...

    Broken Phono Port

If you are decent with a soldering iron, you can reattach it yourself. The solder points are significantly larger than those on the rest of the unit. You'll need your own solder naturally; those points generally have none on them (same goes for quite a few of the capacitors inside the unit which...

    Real Hot Stuff

You don't want to play GBA games do you? They are pretty worthless for that. Also, be sure you tape your SD card in. They are not really held in by anything and fall out easily. On the M3s the slot is on the inside of Slot 2 so it cannot fall out.

My School Is Now Fricking Awesome!

Actual transcript of conversation between a friend of mine running Linux on his laptop, with Abiword open, in class: "What is that, close that." "What's what ..?" "You're supposed to have Word open." "This is AbiWord, it's the Linux equivalent of Word." "Close Linux and open Word." "..." My...

    No More 275mhz Units?

I'm only relating true events. I and many others have been screwed over by Craig numerous times. MagicEyes does not buy 200 or 266 Mhz rated ARM9s from ARM, they just use ARM's design in their SoCs to build their MMSP2s that are then installed in the GP2x units. So .. they are all the same...

    Real Hot Stuff

They got a 9.7 out of 10 on Reseller Ratings out of many, many reviews... I'll probably be ordering my M3 Lite from them, now that Modchipstore and Sky2K have fucked up shipping my order. Maybe third time's the charm...

    No More 275mhz Units?

I'd believe it. Most people seem to buy from GBAX, and there was a very obvious dropoff point this year when everyone was getting 266 MHz overclocks at LEAST and it suddenly turned into 240 or 230, if you're lucky.

    No More 275mhz Units?

I'm not sure you understand... the exchange rate wasn't the problem. The site was using an INCORRECT exchange rate which charged him MORE money than he should have had to pay-- the rate was not up to date. He got ripped off because of it, and Craig/GBAX refused to refund his money.

Read more carefully. Wasn't me, and I don't know why they didn't. As far as I know, there are no US suppliers now.

    No More 275mhz Units?

Being charged a significantly larger amount of money for the 'exchange of currency' when buying a '2x on gp2x.co.uk with anything other than GBP, and when inquired about, the response was that this was the true exchange rate. It wasn't, though, as XE.com or Google would tell you-- yet no refund...

    Real Hot Stuff

You didn't list a site... I'd strongly recommend an M3 Lite and a Passcard 3. That way, you'll be able to run GBA software, not just DS-- and the M3s are just more 'tried and true', whereas these newer Slot 1 solutions are barely out the door and some have been seen to be EXTREMELY faulty. You...

    No More 275mhz Units?

That's exactly what happens and it's a very common practice. It is not fraudulent because ARM can make the assertion of clockrate rating due to their rigorous testing practices and the fact that they designed the processors themselves. At any rate, MagicEyes just uses ARM's reference 'IP' design...
