Never used those but it does seem quite nice. Could definitely be useful on the Pandora.
I guess R (http://www.r-project.org/) would be nice too. It's CLI only so it should be an easy port.
All the Pandora from the first batch are already sold out.
Openpandora will be taking pre-order for the next batch at the end of this month. http://twitter.com/Craigix/statuses/15513907116
I recommend you subscribe to the mailing list on http://www.openpandora.org/
Then there's always ebay but...
If your Pandora is connected to your network you could SSH into it.
Apparently there is an SSH server running by default. (which I personally believe is a big security risk and shouldn't be enabled by default)
Network scanning should probably occur less frequently.
It's definitely not optimal if it uses more power when not connected versus connected.
Also it's nice to have wifi always on with network scanning because it will then automatically connect if it finds a configured network. (for exemple...
The goal of RTOS are basically increased reliability isn't it ? So that you can be sure that an operation has been done at a given time. It's goal is not to archive better performance.
I am definitely not an expert but check the wikipedia entry.
I have got to say the whole hinge thing was quite misleading from the start.
Some people say they quite like the locked position though. Got to try it myself before I can say if I like it or not.
What I've read about wifi recently on the forum seems quite encouraging. Range seems to be good...
If you DVD uses AC3 or MP2 you could probably just keep the audio track as it is. This would be more efficient.
Now if it's LPCM I could understand wanting to use FLAC (especially for concert...)
Then there is maybe the question with DTS track... I am not even sure if VLC or mplayer support...
An open source game by a professional games developer and focused on the Pandora as main platform ! That's just awesome !
I guess the Pandora is probably a good choice for an open development platform. Only problem is availability of the system...
Are you going to make good use of the Pandora...
I personally would still put a password on the Pandora default account (same as any linux distro).
Doesn't mean you shouldn't use auto login though.
Key pairing is great for SSH :)
Agree 100%
It's not like ppl aren't connecting their Pandora to the Internet / Public Network
default port is not really the big the issue here IMO... it's just:
-You shouldn't run an SSH server if you don't need it
-If you're running it you should you should:
- Use a Strong password for...
So the Pandora has a SSH server running by default ??
Isn't that a bad idea with people using no or relatively insecure password.
Installing / enabling a SSH Server should be easy but I don't think it should be running by default.
I don't have a Pandora and I can't answer all of them...
1. I am not 100% sure about this one but I think Pandora as mass storage just isn't implemented yet.
2. No idea. Maybe Evildragon or somebody from the Pandora team could answer this one. I know video acceleration isn't is the best state...
Setting it at 600 is definitely fine :)
The CPU frequency changer provided with the Pandora doesn't change the voltage so there is little harm that can be done.
sudo ifconfig usb0 down
Great you did find a solution !!
The Pandora is new so there is obvisouly some rough edges. Got to say I am impressed somebody figured this one out pretty quickly.
Instead of buying another ADSL router you could just add a Wifi access point... well you would still need an access point than work nicely with your router but that could be one solution.
I searched the ubuntu forum and it seems some other people have problem with sky... I couldn't find...
