GP2X Etiquette - Comments Please From Code Authors

As a rule, I do modify other peoples work to suit my own personal needs. However, I would very rarely, if ever, release a modification of others work without either consulting them first (and obtaining permission). I have modified, and am modifying some of Franxis Mame work to see how far it...

    GP2X Noiz2sa

Well, I would just like to say how impressed I am with Noiz2sa. What an incredible piece of software. Awesome. If anyone hasn't checked it out yet they really should ! Some really neat programming going on in there. Can't wait to steal some of the visual ideas :D

    Some Alternatives To Clrmame

OK, a bit of a different response, but with the roms that I had trouble with, I just went into Franxis' source code, and modified the game drivers to look for Mame 102 compatible romsets and rebuilt the software. Didn't take any time to do really... and now it works with the latest Mame sets...

    Gp2x Mame Samples...

I managed to get sampled sound working in a few games by rebuilding x-mame v0.102 - which is the most recent mame. However, single games work fine, but there are issues with memory I believe, as getting some games to work breaks others. I am still looking into it. Porting Outrun has my most...

    Mame Gp2x 1.0 Ho Ho Ho !!!

Mame, by its own definition is open source, and was always open to other people porting it. We had all kinds of battles at the start when nicola and dave were issueing competing products (Mame and Sparcade). Nicolas stance on open source and ease of plugin use meant that Mame was always going...

    Sega Compiled Mame

Been working on something for Dave C this evening before I go out on the piss, and got Zaxxon working full speed WITH sound :D Now for a few other currently silent classics :P ... and then onto putting cyclone in as the 68000 driver.

    Sega Compiled Mame

Hey cool, Craig reads my posts :) My 68000 is the C port used in X-Mame, so of course there is some room for improvement.... As I said, I'll upload it before the weekend so everyone can have a look if you all want. Didn't realise there was an SDL update with h/w blitters - I'm off to find out.

    Sega Compiled Mame

Well, I finally sussed what I was doing wrong with the M68000 stuff and have managed to port all the sega game drivers to the GP2X. Outrun works perfectly .... at 3fps :( I am guessing Franxis is finding out the same as me. We desperately need the blitter boys to suss out the 2nd...

    Use The Targetting Computer Luke

yeah me too. I love these games. Commando is definately playable tho it feels about half speed. 1942 seems pretty much ok. Just checked the sound on Mame on the PC and its exactly the same, so its working as good as Mame does it. Vulgus too.

    Use The Targetting Computer Luke

cool - different driver I know, but I just got Commando running practically at full speed. Just rebuilding to see if 1942 works OK. So, commando, 1942 and vulgus work ! bad news. After a bit of playtime, Commando is not full speed, and the sound in 1942 and vulgus don't seem right...

    Mamegp2x W.i.p

I just can't get the m68000 stuff to build with the port of xmame I have.... Franxis might have more luck as his is built from the bottom up, and isn't a secondary port. I think I'm missing the op codes header file.

    Mamegp2x W.i.p

I had real problems getting the M68000 Mame emulation going (to the point I gave up and moved onto other processors), so it wont come from me for a while .... sorry.

    Mame Pacman Driver

Ahhh, yes I knew the default cfg file was being accessed, but didn't think about puttin general keys in there ! Good job. Thanks. I actually took the evening off to sit down and play pacman and pengo last night (rather than trying to speed up asteroids). I was also playing starwars to...

    Use The Targetting Computer Luke

OK, so it took a bit more effort this time, but StarWars is definately playable (not quite full speed), and features all the sound and speech :D It's not ready for release yet, as there are loads of atari games to get working, but its definately a good start. hee hee, I'm getting the...

    Mame Pacman Driver

Yeah, I think I can get those games running properly. If Xmame supports them with sound then they should run with some tweaks on the GP2X. I'm having trouble with the config files too. There is a directory pointing to the wrong place somewhere. I'll track it down in time. For the time being...

    Mame Pacman Driver

to support all the variants, I would have to add in the driver names. Easily done, and I'll do it on the next update. Just getting the Atari driver working at the moment :D Thats about 30 games in that one .... (including starwars, asteroids, etc..). No donations to me, I am just...
