Test Dept, 1996 - their last tour and it was a good one.
EDIT: i see they've kinda sorta recently regrouped
another one that comes to mind was Juno Reactor in 1997 (i think). opened for Moby and managed to upstage his set.
the PICO-8 is a really fun SDK - i got one of our company's founders interested and developing for it solely because of that. it's quite polished and feels *right* - i don't find the asking price 'absurd' (especially when you can get it with the Voxatron engine for $20).
Shinobi longplay video -
a liiiiittle bit more than just 'inspired'... same gameplay, same kind of attacks, same kinds of levels (with the crates and the ability to jump 'behind, same kinds of enemies, with some of the (exact) same animations, etc.
i have a Windows desktop, a Linux desktop and an OS X laptop. at work - OS X laptop and several Linux laptops and a Windows VM. (all Linux distros are Ubuntu or Mint) i try to keep current and active on all major OSes, but i've noticed that i'm falling behind on keeping up on Windows knowledge.
i have a modded Xbox created from a console with a bad HDD i got for free - i had to get the help of a coworker (who used to contribute to XBMC and dealt in mods for the system) to remove the original chip, reflash it(? i think? i don't believe it had a new chip inserted, but i could be wrong)...
the Thomson drives for the original Xbox are garbage. i've had several second-hand Xboxes and they've all failed (including the replacements i installed - i live near Redmond, WA so getting replacement drives used to be extremely easy, especially after the 360 was released). if you do get your...

yep, i finally had to consult a walkthrough 15 years later to find them...! the entrance for one of them is kinda funny - it's actually a door to the left just before you hit the exit for a level, but you're usually in a rush and don't think to look to the sides just* before stepping through the...
this is interesting - PICO-8 will ship with the PocketCHIP:
http://getchip.com/pages/pocketchip
i just now purchased the standalone CHIP, as there will be a binary released at some point for PICO-8 license holders.
it wouldn't have any plugins, and 3-4 simultaneous players max, so i think the SBC would work ok. i'm trying a Lenovo Ideapad netbook as a server right now (model #S10-3t, with an Atom n450 1.66GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 40W power draw; running Ubuntu 14.04LTS and SpigotMC) with one other...
