You make a good point, buying CDs is easier because you have so much more freedom and you dont feel guilt for the artists/record label .

ya...i ended up upgrading because i was looking at the upgrade on the file archive reading what it fixed and it says that it turns the battery LED off. My battery LED was on and i didnt have that limegreen screen (for loading) so i figured i had old firmware.
using version 0.03 now playing goits of rage (beat the simpsons mod in less than 5 minutes because it was a demo...meh) and all seems good (so far).
The text and graphics errors have been fixed (from what i can see)...ahh, my eyes feel so much better playing this (compared to .02)
I installed the new 1.01 firmware earlier today and then ran the patch to fix movie player/etc (not sure how to test if the mplayer patch worked, but i can still watch movies and the battery light is now off). I got the black screen for ~5 seconds then it went back to the home screen. So, now...
happened to me this morning...have you tried simply taking out the card and sliding the lock switch up and down a few times (sometimes the simplest things work the best).
