Be aware that the versions you get from Steam do not include CD audio. Quake for example has an amazing and atmospheric soundtrack that adds a lot to the game.
I installed it and vpnc (with --nodeps, otherwise it would still complain about needing kernel_module_tun or something). Works like a charm. I had to connect to my university WLAN manually though, stupid NetworkManager insisted of failing to connect.
Any chance to get the touchscreen/stylus offset fixed? I'd love to play some Monkey Island but that always annoys the hell out of me after a couple of minutes. :)
Uh, I was dumb and did not cat file.osm | maptool output.bin. Heh!
Got rid of the 3GB memory allocation at the start now but it still crashes with "cannot access memory" as soon as I tap the screen.
If you look above, I already said that get-flash-videos works well, it's a simple perl script.
That plugin might have some evil dependencies though. And I haven't found rtmpdump for ARM yet but in the worst case that should be an easy port for some experienced programmer.
Yeah. :(
PNGs are much easier for the software. It does not have to care about how to render. Also it is much lighter on the CPU.
We need to get Navit to work to use the raw data. It's not nearly as easy (or plain) as tangogps but also has routing features. For me it always crashed because it...
Awesome!
You can run gpsd as normal user. And since it works fine, a simple "gpsd /dev/ttyUSB0" will be enough. The switches were just to quickly check if it works.
Yeah, Tangogps is great to download OSM. It is not nice to the server(s) though as it seems to fetch them as fast as it can...
gpsd was probably started by root so you cannot simply stop it. Try "sudo /etc/init.d/gpsd stop". Use "ps aux | grep gpsd" to check if it is still running. Be aware that 2.91 will NOT work with tangogps, see my post about that older version.
Be super careful with exiting .xinitrc! If you install Openbox without a theme you will lock yourself out that way. Use the gui.conf , see http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?/topic/54305-how-can-i-drop-back-to-the-shell/page__p__873532__fromsearch__1&#entry873532
Or use youtube-dl (which I could not get to work, I did install python-html for the htmlentitiesdef error but now it needs "netrc") or get-flash-videos (needs libwww-mechanize and libxml-simple-perl).
I did not have to overwrite any files. "sudo opkg install tangogps" was enough. Do you remember what kind of files were overwritten and by which dependencies?
(Quake 3 never worked properly for me, Q2 does though.)
For audio Ogg Vorbis seems to require lower cpu at the moment. Source for that is my bum (just tried a couple of random files).
I'd use XviD for video for the time being as it is quick to encode and low on the cpu when playing.
H264 would be much superior of course but a) encode is hell and...
Hardware accelerated (DSP?) (H264?) video playback
low power music player mode
Consistent menu keys for emulators
keyboard/-pad optimised frontend with game list to launch the emulators
working standby
We should have a vote page with the better ideas.
With some IRC brainstorming (everyone but me):
The ALSA software mixing seems to be the culprit.
If you feel adventous you could move the ~/.asoundrc .
But then you loose the ability to use the mixer and other bad things might happen (buffer underruns for example).
