The Ben Nanonote is actually very cool. I have one.
It's pretty much compatible with the Dingoo A320 as it uses a near identical chipset.
The keyboard is better than what you think. In fact compared to the Pandora keyboard, the layout is in my opinion better - well for the keys that I use...
That's great that it works with DOSBOX.
There's only two little problems:
1). It's probably not Nanonote compatible as it needs a new kernel.
2). To remain compatible with all users I don't want to make DOSBOX reliant on a specific kernel.
Also, I haven't had much time to do much but that...
I think I needed a rest. I haven't touched any development for about 4 weeks now.
I'm interested again, thanks to the Pandora but I want to finish off DOSBox for the A320/Nanonote first.
I'm just in process of getting mouse emulation in.
Once this is done, I'll see what needs to be done to...
No one is interested in using BT for networking?
It's so much more efficient in terms of power savings on the battery. WiFi seems to gobble that battery up!
I've found that hcitool, hciconfig and pand seem to be the utilities to use to get the job done but I still need to do some more...
Has anyone managed to use Bluetooth to do internet network connections?
I can set up the Mac OS X side (and I have a dedicated BT router, a Bluetake BT-300) but I don't know exactly what to setup on the Pandora.
I mean I could probably look into it, but if anyone else has done this, a guide of...
Leave a message if you are living in Australia and have received your Pandora.
Mine arrived on Monday, though I wasn't home for the delivery and had to wait 24 hours until the next delivery time! Eep!
I officially got mine at 10.15am 1/6/2010 :)
Thanks everyone.
As for the toolchain I could try good old buildroot - though it's quirky with Mac OS X.
Building toolchains isn't my favorite thing in the world, I always find that I am a lot happier once I have a good toolchain up and running.
Surely there's Mac OS X devs out there wanting...
Wow. Quick replies. Thanks. Okay, I hadn't really followed any news about the Pandora. I was just waiting for it to materialize then I'd get interested. :)
Okay so standby mode whilst charging sounds like a good idea to me.
I ported this to A320 and which uses /dev/fb0 (only as this is all that's available).
I just checked Pandy - /dev/fb0, fb1 and fb2. Triple Buffer! Hooray!
Man I think I am a bit over the A320's missing features. :)
I've just received my Pandora. Sitting here next to me trying to get bluetooth to connect with my Mac.
Anyway, If Franxis is not interested in porting MAME4ALL I'll probably do it for Pandora.
Yes, this is the good old 0.37b5 version that runs on the GP2X/Wiz/Dingoo A320 and even GP32.
It is...
Combination keys (like SELECT+L) are not specifically catered for so you are stuck with just the number of keys on the A320.
I'm busy adding keyboard support for the Nanonote. This is working quite well as games become quite playable when you can control them.
Just tried out Carrier Command -...
I've been working on proper keyboard support for the Nanonote.
It's been a real hassle so far but I've got an idea of what needs to be done now.
The Nanonote keyboard seems to be just an array of buttons and doesn't do any clever keyboard processing by the looks of it.
As a result, I'm going to...
I think you might want to have this a bit higher. The number represents the number of instructions emulated in 1/1000th of second. A typical older PC should be set at around 2000 or so. You can go higher than that to emulate a faster CPU. Going really high will not have much benefit as the idea...
Is cycle actually 300? Or do you mean 3000?
To be honest, I don't know if the nanonote is capable of running DOSBox really well with Soudblaster emulation... try adlib.. or best of all PC speaker.
Screen resolutions above 640x480 are simply not supported and nothing is drawn to the screen.
Also, it's possible that games using more than 256 colors may not work on the Nanonote. I haven't confirmed this as I haven't tested any that fall in this category.
Which games are you running that...
That's right. Actually the A320 uses 16-bit color modes and the Nanonote uses 8-bit mode which is then mapped using the DOSBox palette during the blit.
This works very nicely - I wonder if it's faster than the A320's mode? Most early PC games use 256 colors or less so it's probably pretty...
Couple more things
1). There *is* a mapper included in dosbox - you can access it by starting dosbox with the following argument:
dosbox -startmapper
DOSBox then starts in mapper mode.
This probably (I haven't checked) doesn't display anything on the A320 (yet) but it does display correctly...
