Yup, that did work. Altering the 'boot.txt' and 'autoboot.txt'! So now I boot off of SD1 to run the old kernel from the SD and Default Boot will run thee new Kernel. so that the boot process IS running them in order under default. Chosing the Menu "Old Kernel" boots from the NAND. This also...
That makes sense with what I was getting. SO I modify these on the NAND copy of /boot/bootmenu.txt correct?
Also, I could also have boot.txt set for uImage_2.6
and autoboot.txt set for uImage_3.2
correct? then Simply use the right-should and pick Boot_From_SD to use the old Kernel on the...
OK I have both kernels on the root of the fat partition on the SD. Am I to understand that I would have to modify boot.txt in a text editor between boots to change kernels on the SD? And that using the Menu to change kernels ONLY works with kernels on the NAND?
Is this correct? I have looked...
Thanks. .home/root is correct.
I have a .bashrc in that directory. When I su root I get to root in what ever my current directory is. But the CL prompt does not change unless I manually enter.
source /home/root/.bashrc
On my CentOS and Debian &PCLinuxOS the Root bashrc file is...
I am dealing with why my SD install wont boot the old 2.6 kernel from the SD (It boots 3.2 from SD but 2.6 from NAND).
Your comment got my attention because I have that console= line in my autoboot and wonder why he needed to get rid of it? Trying to understand the boot process to know why I...
I know that was true of my Centos and Debian systems but wondered where it was. I see no /root on my NAND or SD install. Yet I get a proper # when I su root from NAND but not from the SD.
Where oh where is that little root gone!
on the SD in /boot correct? Because obviously the uimage on the root of the SD card (fat partition is the 3.2 kernel).
Be patient please.
[EDIT] I was wrong, there is no /boot on the SD card ext partition. So where do I look for the 2.6 kernel?
Maybe I have a broken installation? I...
OK on the underclocking. According to what you say, I guess the issue is moot for me then. Thanks.
Now for this: My Boot.txt
setenv bootargs debug root=/dev/mmcblk0p3 rw rootdelay=2 vram=6272K omapfb.vram=0:3000K psplash=false
fatload mmc 0:1 0x80300000 uImage
bootm 0x80300000
What do...
1) So, some of us still want to be able to under-clock manually.
and my earlier question that got lost in this clocking...
2) How do I boot the old kernel from an SD. I thought I was but then this...
"OK, bad phrasing on my part ;-) I normally boot from an SD. But I wanted to boot to my old...
As I learned with other OSes, sometimes manual control is needed when on-demand makes a bad choice! My son prefers low-res if it means higher-frame-rates; I choice higher-res and lower frame-rate. This must be done manually when we play. the Pandora is no different. What you may want at a normal...
OK, Any Ideas on what is broke or how I get a su root to read the .bashrc and give me a custom root environment? I did this with my IRLP Node which runs CentOS 4.8 CLI only. It helps me keep track of who and where I am at the time.
My final solution is post #11 Below...
OK, bad phrasing on my part ;-) I normally boot from an SD. But I wanted to boot to my old kernel (FROM SD) to use Audacity. But realized that any time I Right-Shoulder-Boot to the old kernel I am running in NAND. How Do I Boot the Old Kernel from SD.
(I Moved the OT to Support, TNX Notaz)...
Not upgrading yet and not sure what, of these issues, are fixed in beta 4. best too ask first.
IS it a problem in Beta 3 that I can not change CPUspeed to under 500?
I thought booting to 2.6 still ran off my SD but found that it is booting 3.2 from the SD and 2.6 from NAND. ISnt that wrong...
I am having great success with WFW311 still. Bootup is quite fast and works great as an "APP".
Touch-screen works but is not an accurate click method for clicking specific locations like a tablet. Seems the touch-screen works more like a mouse touchpad.
Is it possible to enable WFW311 to...
OK success on my test. I can run the PND and it extracts to mnt/pnd/appname now.
BUT the path does not overlay the file system like I thought. This causes a "segmentation error" when I run the program cause the program is looking in the /usr/bin instead of mnt/pnd/appname/usr/bin first...
Following Stuckies tutorial here:
http://www.gp32x.de...06
And it stops at the point where I find out - where can I get mkisofs on the pandora?
It is implied that it was on his but what, no more?
[uPDATE] Ok I switched to Squash per recommendation below.
Now how do I get the pnd to...
