yeah there's a real possibility. I assume the Pandora's wifi is real low? I will try chaging the channels again too. But TKIP was the real blocker up to now!
It is a school so that there are a LOT of RF flying around. I changed the AP to a different channel and WHAMO again!
So, AES is a must...
honestly, I Had checked everything else. This was simply NOT the thing I expected.
As I said, I have used them for a long time and many different computers. this was a first. so there is some setting on either the router or pandora that are NOT getting along. AES setting at least gave me email...
Well, no-one else had any ideas and I kept ploughing along. Worst can happen is reflash again eh?
So, I learned something else this morning.
Check you routers men!
The pandora is the first wifi I have had that did NOT like TKIP one bit. Let us not argue about AES vs TKIP. Frankly I have...
Where is the dropbear config file? I would like to change the default ssh port for logging in.Obviously not at /etc/sshd_config...
I looked in /etc/dropbear - not there! just an RSA file.
OK, so, reflashed and still have wifi issues.
But I notiuced also that activating usb now only displays 1 USB port. I used a script to turn on and off usb under beta 3 and it always showed 2 USB ports when on (the USB 1 and USB 2). But now I only see the Bus 001 USB 2 Hub. Is this right...
My problem is just with the wierdness of the built-in wifi
Atleast it does not lock the pandora up anymore but I would like the connectivity back and wonder why SSH wont work. Something broke when I set dropbear to load at boot. Reflashing now and will see what happens. It is a great way to...
Back to the above problem. Whatever activating dropbear did (cause that is ALL I did before lunch). I can only get networking by booting into kernel 2.6 and even then - I can only make standard FTP connections. Anything involving SSH wont work. Under 3.2 I can not connect to networks reliably...
Had a great morning using the wifi on my Pandora after upgrading to beta4 . then, suddenly I can still connect to my second router but it takes a long time like under beta 3, and WORSE - no longer can I sftp in gigolo or gftp to my NAS? I was able to breifly sftp under beta3 but after activating...
Why did that post from my pandora get the paragraphs in reverse order?
A Bug caught in the web?
I would like to see the Settings/Startup renamed to "Startup Services" as it fits other distros and is more intuitive for new users. If that's agreeable. If not, I guess we will just 'deal with...
Do you have a Tuxsudo, anyone?
Now the test, am I still connected? We will know in 10 seconds....
Great Job Guys.
So I still replaced my About XFCE menu item with a (op_standby) script. I still want a way to edit what apps are in what menu folder without gediting desktop files. Or do I...
Problem here to under 1.5b3 and kernel 3.2. I have a wifi stick handy but do not know how to set it up and use it.
Linksys USB54GC ver.3
"Compact Wireless -G USB Network Adapter"
Chipset is listed as:
RT2800U 11bgn WLAN
How do I use this? I want to see if the problem is on my end...
I picked Those as hoping to be past-tense. that what my Pandora is for. I got Wifi to stop locking up last night. Seems that my 2 routers channels were too close. My laptops had no problem but the Pandora was not separating the signals well. So, I moved the channels further from each other and...
Thanks, that is helpful and I have some books from Oreilly just ordered. It is a trip for a Windows guy having a VOIP running CenntOS and an NAS running Debian. Now the Pandora. Still trying to break out of XP and change my way of doing things. Except for those items that I can only do on XP...
Well, now that I know aa bit more. I am always game to change it back to /bin/sh and investigate further. But it was a good hack. Maybe someone will have an idea, and maybe not. Eventually I will upgrade the firmware and it will be fixed that way and nothing left to investigate.
Until then, I...
<Well, I still would like to know the angstrom/Pandora alternative to usrmod >
But here is the manual method to fix this.
-------------------------------------------
So my Root was broke and would not source the bashrc file and customize my prompt....
Start by checking the shell type for...
OK I had an idea. I checked this
$ cat /etc/passwd | grep -i root
root:x:0:0:root:/home/root:/bin/sh
I think that my problem is that the shell is not set to Bash so the bashrc will never be read.
I tried "usrmod -s /bin/bash root" but there is no usrmod command.
What is the Angstrom...
My guess is a broken install and there is simply a setting missing somewhere. Oh well, someone may have a idea later...
Thanks for your other help though.
Yes, that is what I was doing. Here is the catch. If I boot to the NAND I can su to root and I DO get a # prompt until I exit. If I boot to the SD this does NOT happen.
I just tried 'sudo su' and it still does not source .bashrc. I still have to type source /home/root/.bashrc but NOT if I boot...
Good to know. BTW my booting the old kernel just got fixed by having boot.txt use the 2.6 kernel and autoboot.txt use the 3.2. then by choosing default boot or boot from SD I get to pick kernel 3.2 or 22.6 in that order. The following page has the dialogue between WizardStan and myself as he...
