Sounds like a list that would take about two weeks to fulfill considering some of the prolific coders around here. And not even because you want it, just because they're that awesome. ^_^
Again, I never saw the lack of a keyboard as a problem for what the GP2X was as it encouraged more advanced thinking in the UI. The keyboard does open up a host of possibilities in terms of the device's usage areas. Whereas the GP2X will never be a useful internet device, the Pandora has that bonus.
Personally, I like the name Pandora because of the whole idea of the box with the endless possibilities, only that instead of unleashing all the evils upon the world, this one unleashes the power of awesome. ^_^
Well, a usable user interface is always important. You still have to create menus that work and a system that is easily manageable. Nethack is a perfect example of how a keyboard can complicate things to an unnecessary degree. I've never seen a better Nethack than the one on the GP2X by Dzz, and...
A Katamari clone would rock me so hard on this thing... I'd definitely get back into learning 3D modeling in order to help that come to fruition. If you want to do it, contact me.
I've been thinking of waiting with Li'l Trooper until I could develop it for this thing, and that's probably...
My opinion is probably irrelevant, but I'll air it anyway:
I think a release brand should be put into place, kind of like Nintendo's golden seal of old, and then a standard contract that benefits both the developers and publisher should be set up. Something like a flat fee for finishing the...
At the current sight of things, yes.
I was unsure to begin with because I saw a lot of people talking about slide-out keyboards, etc. I personally strongly believe that the clamshell design is the best way to go about these kinds of 'tronics. My mobile phone's screen is scratch-free because...
Heheh, I do agree. The Fn key can be used for a lot of different things. One could even use the game buttons as modifiers for the functions of regular keys. A lot can be packed into the keys that are already there. I think what we probably need is an easy way to make and share keyboard set-ups...
Are you seriously saying that all those colours and the rounded curves make it LESS gay? :D
This is a grown-up system for adults. It's meant to be able to emulate a lot of different systems, including ones that use keyboards. I would be quite happy to use this thing in public. I would like some...
As a Norwegian, I'd love to see three more buttons on that machine that could maybe be for special characters and then us weirdos with the Æ Ø and Å could set it up to give us those as well. Anybody else got some keyboard-specific thoughts?
Huh. I just thought of something. I guess the E, O...
I think it looks fine. In fact, the uglier it is, the less likely it is to be stolen, so bonus if it doesn't look sleek and sexy. I'd like to see some SLIGHTLY rounded corners for great justice, but other than that, all thumbs up!
hah! And I was just about to say that just like when the Wii was announced, I liked it right away! :D
I was worried it was going to be a slide-keyboard kind of thing and that it would look all strange. Considering that I have to choose between the Pandora and the Eee, the mini-laptop-for-gaming...
That is awesome! I always feel the need to measure and cut up pieces of paper to get a real feel for the size of something that I'm reading about, and this is just taking it five steps further. The controls seem well enough set up, and the size compared with the GP2X is quite nice. I can fit the...
Ooooh! How's the Eee PC working out? I'm very curious about those things. A bit bummed about the price it ended up with, but I guess there's always the second generation! ^_^
I was thinking about the Eee in relation to the Craiginator... It seems to me like the Craiginator will be a better...
Oh, we're way ahead of ya! :D
We are thinking of objects (like the box in Daid's build) to include for the sake of making the game more varied than a straight platformer. If we can manage to do half of the stuff I -want- to do, I think we have a really unique game on our hands.
Right now, I'm...
I just tried it out on a 720p Sony LCD TV. PAL (1-3) mode seems slightly flattened and NTSC (4-6) mode seems to cut off about four or five pixels at top and bottom, none of which I really mind. Both of them look a damn sight better than the original TV-out.
Sorry about the sizes of the images...
