Microsoft/Android/iOS Debate (Split from Cotton Candy topic)

Agreed. Though, I rarely use MSDN nowadays - I just google straight away! Obviously because windows has such a large user-base, most issues have been encountered before and discussed/solved so it's easy to find answers. It's just annoying when the cause of the issue is a bug in IE...

    anyone like punk rock?

I've been listening to 'Young Marble Giants' a lot recently but I understand that to be Post-Punk. Also, a bit of 'The Wire'. Anyone here into XTC?

Microsoft/Android/iOS Debate (Split from Cotton Candy topic)

I'll add my 2p: I will admit I'm an idealist. I like the fact that there is an open-source OS, that nobody owns and nobody has to pay for. I don't want the world to be run by a single company and as the world is becoming more and more controlled by computers, I would like Linux to be the...

These days I feel like I'm made of braces

Oh noes. I saw these yesterday. They're kind sort of 'man-suspenders'. Now, I like the ladies in stockings and suspenders - that's sexy. This, on the other hand is...well, it just seems wrong. Doesn't look the most comfortable either, it would be all scratchy in your trousers! Each to their...

    Pandora improved SDL for pandora

What, no nes emualator? Surely this can't be right. Well, how do people play Super Mario Bros.? I use advanceMESS at home, it runs many nes games very well. Might see if I can compile for Pandora tonight :-)

    Another Humble Bundle :D

Actually, it's always in dollers isn't it and I usually put $10. God, look at me trying to justify myself here! I probably just feel guilty for my history of rampant piracy on older machines. I mean, EVERYBODY pirated speccy games didn't they? Well, didn't they? Or is this talk not allowed here...

    Lode Runner recommendations?

I remember borrowing Loadreunner for the Spectrum from a friend of mine. I was amazed to see another game from Software Projects (the people who published Jet Set Willy). I played it all day, making levels (think it had a level editor) and just screwing around trapping the little people and...

    Another Humble Bundle :D

I agree people are massive cheapskates. A guy in my office paid £1 for the latest bundle...then again, he's a windows and OSX user. I paid a fiver I think. It's important to support these I reckon, purely for the support they give to linux.

    the future of retro

Please correct me if I'm missing the point but I think that there will be an interest in retro-gaming for a while yet. It seems to me that people who are younger than me and did not grow up in the Arcade Gaming Golden Era (the 80's basically) are still interested in those games, so it's not...

Doom3 Source Code Released (GPL licensed)

Exciting stuff. What are the realistic chances of this running decently on a Pandora though? I mean, it required a mega-meaty-machine when it was released!

Release Arora Rift 32X, out now!

I will buy this the second I recieve my Pandora (hint hint Craig...)

Release Commercial apps now accepted in the repo.

This is really cool work Milkshake! I wonder if there will be an influx of rubbish 'apps' for £0.69 now? To me, the incentive to write code for the Pandora has never been money orientated but I'm sure there are plenty of folk out there who are. Time will tell.

    Release OpenPandora BookShelf [Video]

I think they're for Silkroad and other illegal activities. Sounds interesting but pretty dodgy.

Pandora at Replay 2011 - Retro Gaming Expo - Let's meet up

Yep, I know now. I actually thought of doing exactly that in previous visits but I always assumed they knew the value of it since they kept it around (it was the oldest machine in there) - lesson of the day: never assume.

Pandora at Replay 2011 - Retro Gaming Expo - Let's meet up

My guess is that a lot of the arcade cabs there are from a Blackpool residents private collection - I doubt he would want to ship them halfway across the country. I've been to a lot of English seaside towns, they're all the same* and Blackpool is just the biggest and tackiest of them all as...

Pandora at Replay 2011 - Retro Gaming Expo - Let's meet up

Black pudding's nice...as long as you switch off your brain whilst eating it. We should've been more organised and booked hotel's nearby the venue - and then met up in one of them...so I couldn't gone for a drink!

    OP at Replay2011 video

Yep, really loved the video Craig. Very nicely done. Great idea to ask the question to everyone - you really did put me on the spot though! (I stick by my answers: Manic Miner (speccy) and Bombjack (arcade) are two games that I love). I'm suprised Danny didn't say Lego Universe though but he...

Pandora at Replay 2011 - Retro Gaming Expo - Let's meet up

@Mr_Loon: thanks for the name badge! I shall keep mine for next year :-) How did ED's talk go, blumming annoying I missed that as well :-( My son and I wondered around for a 3 hours before finding the Pandora table - I honestly thought you'd all given up and gone home already!

Pandora at Replay 2011 - Retro Gaming Expo - Let's meet up

Heh, I wish! But we should have another meetup, perhaps when more of us have Pandoras (i.e. me!). We can have competitions, more cake and booze!
