Got My Wiz On Today , Does Anyone Elses B Button Feel Flaky?

It's normal and has been discussed before. It's just not a very good design.

    Gp2X Wiz For Sale

Better lower your price, as Thinkgeek has these for $99 right now. Also state where you are from.

    Broken Shoulder Button

Yeah I imagine it's pretty annoying.. my hands get cramps as well. I was tentatively offering to *try* to fix it but I've never taken my Wiz apart before and I would be scared to death of damaging the OLED or somehow inducing pixel plague into an already damaged unit. I have a soldering gun...

    State Of Emulation On Caanoo

Yeah, GPH really dropped the ball on the Caanoo in a huge way. Three of the biggest complaints about it I hear: 1.) The replacement of the DPAD with useless-for-fighting-games analog nub 2.) Lack of backwards compatibility with the Wiz despite having the exact same SoC and screen resolution...

edit: nevermind about the offer to repair, I overlooked the part where you just wanted to sell it

    Gp2X Serial Issues - Hardware (Gp2X-Arduino)

It also is worth pointing out that the quality of the serial output hardware of the GP2X breakout box is highly suspect. I can only get it to work right on certain computers, other computers hate it. Same is true of the GP2X's mini-USB connection, though that is not relevant here. If you...

Something Out To Be Try On Yur Gp2X! :) - 2 Winners To Come...

Very interesting.. I remember finding DIGNSYS (GPH's hired software team) had accidentally swapped the constants X_MAX and Y_MAX in one spot in their source code, too. Let me know anything more to try. When you refer to a non-interlaced mode, are you talking about having the LCD be...

Something Out To Be Try On Yur Gp2X! :) - 2 Winners To Come...

Wow, so you figured out the source of the pixel problem.. Perhaps I could try to get a bugfix into the official Open2X SDL? I would give you credit, of course. Any interest on elaborating on the screen setup F-cycles? It's OK if you don't. As for the CC, I did not get it to work. I am using...

    Changing Menu Buttons For Pocketsnes

Would be really nice if someone could do this for the next official release, if it hasn't been done already. I find hitting both volume buttons on the wiz simultaneously to be pretty inconvenient.

Something Out To Be Try On Yur Gp2X! :) - 2 Winners To Come...

You'll notice many games that used Paeryn's hardware-accelerated SDL also have those last few pixels in the bottom right that are always darker. Never investigated the reason, myself, but it has been a little annoying. I'll definitely have to try the CC later today.. Definitely a first hehe :)

Something Out To Be Try On Yur Gp2X! :) - 2 Winners To Come...

OK, I tried the demo and it does work using Open2X's compatibility layer, even in TV-out mode. I would like to know how you are blitting the background versus the sprites. I'm guessing you are blitting the menu by using the cursor layer. It is surprising that it doesn't work under normal...

Something Out To Be Try On Yur Gp2X! :) - 2 Winners To Come...

Hi, I did a lot of the work in Open2X especially on TV-out stuff. Open2X has a TV-out tweaker daemon that tries to allow many programs to work with TV-out that sometimes wouldn't. If your program is doing YUV layer stuff you will need to enable the option "Tweak YUV Layer" for your program's...

What Is Your Favourite Thing About The Wiz? What Do You Not Like?

Glad people are enjoying Transport Tycoon Deluxe on the Wiz :) I played quite a bit of it myself this year while hiking in the woods and never had a problem. About the Wiz, it has been great for me so far. I've had it for almost a year and it is still going strong. The things I like most...

    Touchscreen - Help!

Noisy touchscreen values, especially on the horizontal axis, have been a problem on GPH devices since it was first introduced on the GP2X F200, the Wiz's predecessor. There is a touchscreen library, tslib, that supports most touchscreen device drivers under linux. It has modules that can be...

Caanoo / WIZ Caanoo Controls Info

If I may, I'd like to contribute some advice for anyone writing a program or library: Instead of accessing the controls via mmap'ed GPIO registers, it would be better to access them through the linux device driver (/dev/input or even /dev/GPIO) instead. That way, future community firmwares can...

Serious Slowdown While Using The Touch?

There was a similar issue with the touchscreen of the F200. I don't have a Caanoo so I am not sure if it is a similar problem but the main issue I found was our hardware-accelerated SDL (non-GPH) was polling the touchscreen device file at a very high rate, way higher than the 100hz rate it...

    Opengl To Opengl Es Porting

Converting OpenGL code to OpenGLES isn't too bad. Thanks to the iPhone's popularity you should be able to find some tutorials to help you out. Converting directly to OpenGLES gave me quite a speed boost when porting a game that used immediate mode OpenGL, versus using the NanoGL wrapper. You...
