I understand what you are saying but I have had enough of explaining why I think they are wrong and all that happens is reply with why they think they are right so nothing gets resolved and there is an infinite loop, so I took out my why's to keep it short and sweet.
Why is everyone pushing non common button symbols it really is silly and will alienate people!
Kiga you are just plain wrong with most of what you say.
Wb the verbal aspect is as important as the visual if not more.
Yes we need commonly associated gaming buttons ;-) which are easy for any gaming veteran or newbie to pick up hmm why not use Latin letters (pure genius)
No because playstation symbols are universally describable and those shapes are taught at junior school everyone knows what "triangle", "circle", "square", "cross" shapes are.
This is a world away from greek characters
How will X O X do? If your saying people will be dumbfounded between buttons and keys how do you think they think that those characters are the buttons when the O character doesn't appear on the buttons (when using greek symbols) ?
Don't forget what exophase wrote that if there were less Latin lettered choices that in practice more people are actually in favour of a Latin button set is just the specific layout that differs.
So maybe we should be focusing on Latin layout but focusing the vote on layout of those characters...
This is term reserved for pc games or games on systems that have a keyboard by default like an Amiga, to my knowledge no (or very few) console or arcade games use this term.
Of course but as you saw in your definitions, a key (although a button) is used in specific context and in the case of...
So you knew that on a regular keyboard there are things called keys but when presented with a qwerty keyboard on the pandora you associated them with the term buttons?
Surely a reasonable perception would have been to go with what you have used before on a keyboard that being the term key?
Also although you may use the term button as interchangeable for key I doubt you would use the term key as interchangeable for the word button would you?
I'm fed up of this debate it's going round in circles leading back to the same counter points over and over again.
Can we not just write a list of pros and cons of each and then let ed decide please.
I don't think it's a convention that is used just in the Pandora forums / community.
I think it's quite common place amongst people who use keyboards or consoles.
I ready apologised for my mistake but at least I'm not hiding it.
Also I'm not pretending to be confused by the term key vs button.
Also the whole point of using the correct verbs and nouns is to leave little room for confusion why would u want to write rubbish instructions when you can make...
My mistake sorry you are right, still you wouldn't get the two mixed up when you have a keyboard.
Also reinforce the use of key with type and you can't go wrong.
