Mweston Tries Out A Range Of Leds (Photo)

Yeah, blue is too, too bright, and the human eye doesn't focus the short wavelengths as well, so they always look larger than acutal size, blurring out adjacent detail. I do like the way MWeston thinks, though. Special LED's for special edition Pandoras.

    Wifi Module?

Since Wireless g is already faster than most incoming cable modem service, I don't see the point of an 802.11N upgrade. I would think the only thing which wireless n would do is make file copying a bit snappier from the Pandora to a computer on your network. Not worth the bother, probably, as...

Ok We Got Our Pics, What Now?

Perhaps I missed it amongst the postings, but do we have any information on the status of the 3800 or so Pandora circuit boards? Are they finished, still in China, in transit, in Texas, being populated? Any estimates on times for these milestones? It would be too bad if we finally get the first...

Twiterix : The Photos Have Been Taken

As was asked above, do you have enough information to approve MP of all the case parts, based upon these pics, or are you still waiting for parts in hand? Also, when do you think final FCC testing will be possible with the production case? Thanks, and keep on keeping on. j.

    The Suspend Functionality

I think those who are seriously concerned about this could use an example from another similar device. The Nokia 770 internet tablet was released with an only partially functional OS, with many many bugs. The Nokia developers, and others who worked in the Maemo open source project, did a pretty...

Looks Like We May Be Able To Get Hd Out

I think that many threads about video output seem to be asking for is an improved video out capacity. S-video is a format which will not translate well from the crisp digital 800 by 480 pixel Pandora LCD display to analog S-video. So, the question as I would pose it is whether any USB video...

I guess my question about nub installation should be more like: Is there any reason not to attach the nubs at the time everything else is soldered to the boards? It would seem that a process to attach the nubs separately from the big multicomponent populating event would entail lots of extra...

To add a point on the board testing. I would hope that, unlike the first 105 boards, that the mass production boards have the nubs included in the surface mount soldering process. Testing the 105 boards before reheating them to add the nubs creates a possible positive bias in the test. It is...

    New Pix From Mweston!

Craigix, If you were serious earlier about asking for volunteers down in Texas for help in production, I'd like to offer my services. I've got frequent flier miles I have to use, and am available for any 5 days between Dec. 1st and 21st. Anything from soldering nubs to packing boxes to sweeping...

    Status Of Boards?

I would assume that the whole completed Pandora would be tested after assembly. What I was talking about above was QC approval for the boards to be released for assembly.

    Status Of Boards?

It seems odd to me that testing would be considered complete on these boards when the nubs still need to be soldered on. Heating up boards to perform this process could easily change the test status of the board. I used to do QC testing on soldered component subassemblies, and this would be...

    Too Late For Transparent Cases?

The recent comments on the mould making indicates matte. And if anyone wants a transparent case, they will have to mold their own, which won't be too difficult once the real cases are available. You just have to disassemble your Pandora and use the case as a positive master. Linky: silicone mold...

    Can The Pandora Get Viruses?

The most likely way you'll get a virus with your Pandora is when you pass it around to all your admiring friends, and one of them sneezes on the keyboard.

    Space In The Case ?

Not sure of the need for memmoru sticks, as there are already two SD slots, so I'll skip that. You want a USB hub and 3G dongle. If you hack the case, there is room where the stylus pen sits. It appears to be approx. 5mm X 5mm X 60mm in size. If you can get them in this space, you're good to go.
