A few Colors and Packages (with a poll!)

Parkinson's law of triviality is C. Northcote Parkinson's 1957 argument that members of an organisation give disproportionate weight to trivial issues.[1] He observed that a committee whose job was to approve the plans for a nuclear power plant spent the majority of its time on discussions about...

I mean, I was thinking of a faux marble pattern in plastic, but real marble would be cool. Heavy, maybe, but cool.

I like the two tones like kabaiakh showed, but black marble on the outside, white marble on the inside. (I know, I know. We're going well beyond what is feasible. Just wishing.)

I tried (and failed horribly) to create a layer mask in Photoshop that would just be the face of the device without any of keys or buttons. Basically, I would like it if the back/edges/trim were all black, and the face (just the front face around the keys and around the screen) was white. I...

Why all the hate for white? I think an ivory/ebony pairing (case/keys) could look classy.

What a great start - prepare for the next level!

Well I sent an email to the person who runs TI In It with some info about the Pyra and links to the press kit, wiki, and tech specs. I'll let you know if they decide to run it (they might want to wait until it's in production though).

Hey, I work for TI. I wonder if I can get them to send me there. I might also submit the Pyra for our "TI in it" segment of our internal newsletter. It won't reach many people, but it's definitely the right demographic.

Looks more like a logarithmic curve to me. Regression analysis could probably match it even better.

x=0, therefore y=2x=2*0=0=x. Neither Pyra nor smartphones have systemd. Edit: Just having fun here, too.

Percentages are a ratio of 1/100, they're applied multiplicatively. 100% of something is 100/100, so 1. 100% more than something means "add 100%", so a ratio of 2:1, or 200%. We're comparing some value x, and stating that value y is x+100%, so y=x+100%x=200%x=2x, therefore x=y/2=50%y.

Doesn't "100% more than" mean "twice as much as"? Does this imply smartphones have 50% systemd?

I hate to bring it up, but cellular networks can easily triangulate your position based on signal strength from cell towers and track your location using that data. :tinfoil: The police have used this data to check out the alibis of suspects.

Unless you want to use your Pyra for network penetration testing. Why does that sound so dirty?

Maybe ED could create a press release and send it to tech blogs like Engadget?
