Going to theoddbot's libs actually *fixed* issues for me. I had been using some other version of SDL I found and some buttons didn't register and other stuff like that. Joystick input works fine in gp2xmess using the same library, so I'm wondering if maybe it's the emu's interpretation of the...
Ahh, excellent. I will try that out, thanks. I would have never thought to try that because I thought that (SDL_SetVideoMode) had some magical property in that it was actually doing something w/ HW/registers/whatever. Having the primary surface be that size will make my code a lot cleaner...
I am attempting to use this version of SDL and am very close to getting it working w/ gp2xmess. The one issue I have left is getting the displayed image scaled. I am definitely doing something wrong and if someone could give me some idea where I'm going wrong that would be great.
I call...
Yep, keyboard support is there. Press the right shoulder button (by default, it can be remapped although I probably wouldn't bother since the O2 had one joystick button).
I think the board game was called Quest for the Ring or something like that.

Hiya reaper79,
Glad to see there are fans of the O2. I was one of those 2600 owners. :)
My babysitter though had an Odyssey2 and I was always fascinated by the keyboard and the joysticks. She also had a color TV which makes a world of difference.
Yes, unfortunately the compatability is...
This version of gp2xmess fixes some annoying bugs that were present due to the version of SDL I was using. I found a newer version of the library and it fixes the volume down button and joystick click not being recognized. This also fixes the SDL timer issue which kept the file selection...
Those files drive me nuts, and they are *everywhere*. It's even worse over a Windows share since they also need to create "resource forks" as separate files.

HOLY SMOKES!!!
Caldor! That's where I played with the TI99/4A when I was a little kid. That is totally AWESOME, thanks for sharing!
I own 3 now and 2 of them are brand new. None have a cool price tag like that on it though. <_<
I do have a TI book however...
Hehe, I was going to do the last release w/ a TI style keyboard for the TI but I got hung up on the Coco one. Some of the keys which are normally shifted on a PC keyboard (and probably most other ones) are not shifted on the Coco so I needed a way to do an implicit shift. The way mess is setup...
Hmm, I must be too old for this thread. The only system that even comes close to my favorite might be the Atari ST. And that wasn't a console. :(
Where's the Atari 2600/5200, Coleco, Intellivision, Pong. For the old fogies in here. :)

I *loved* the Elvira and the Party Monsters pinball they had at a local pizza place. I would play that thing for hours. I should see if there is a VP table for that one. Had totally forgotton about it. Thanks for mentioning "elvira". :)

Ahh, OK. Wasn't sure. I have met so many people on these forums and I'm bad w/ names. :)
I wonder if mess would like the idea of calculators being incorporated as drivers. They do have the Tomy Tutor in there. :)

Hi YS_BOOK_I_II,
So you get the intro screen and then after how long does it go blank? Does it go back to the main gp2x menu? When the system comes up like that, you need to then "insert" a cartridge by pressing the left shoulder button and then selecting File Manager. After selecting a...
Unfortunately I don't see this happening (although it'd be great). For one last I looked the source wasn't available. Also it's HEAVILY based on VBScript if I remember correctly. I have Visual Pinball in my mame cab and absolutely love it. I just wish it were more portable so I didn't need...
Yep it uses SDL. It doesn't seem to be a mess issue since I got the same behavior in the file dialog that comes up for the a7800 driver. It could be the version of SDL I'm using although I haven't found a different version. There are other devs who are experiencing the same thing. Over the...
Atari 7800 is actually pretty good right now and will only get better. As far as I can tell Intellivision is broken in mess, nothing loads at all. A month or two ago I contacted the author of Bliss asking if I could port his emu to the gp2x and didn't hear anything back. It's a very windows...
You are the 2nd person to say that. Some fella in a different area on these forums gave me a link to an emulator. Maybe someday I'll have some spare cycles to port that. :)

Hi remowilliams,
Thanks for confirming what I (unfortunately) suspected. Other developers have observed the same thing (vol down and joystick click not working) I'm hoping that there will be a release soon that fixes these issues. I will look at open2x's CVS to see if SDL 1.2.9 has been...
