I am not so sure about that. The new Intel Ice lake Y and U series chips are coming this year which are built off of the Sunny Cove 10nm architecture.
Those Y chips would be great in the Win 3 and run cooler. Looks like the lowest power ones are 7, then 15 and 28 TDP.
Seems to big to be pocketable. this seems like more of a Win 3 device
Why do the refresh with the 8100Y, then this Max, then the Win 3?
I feel like they are bleeding the customers for cash with new devices every 6 to 8 months in the same product line. Customers will not bite on this knowing...
The main reason I ask is because I just want to get one so that I can then get the upgrade for the CPU/GPU that will come for the unit hopefully at some point.
I love the design and everything about this product except for the fact that the CPU/GPU will be very much outdated compared to the...
Sorry to ask this but I am one of those folks who has been waiting since the days of the Pandora:)
So here it is, when can we expect a production version of the Pyra to hit the market?
From the looks of this thread, it looks like June maybe?
Let's see...
1. No backlit keyboard
2. No clickable analog sticks
3. No camera, front or back
4. Front buttons to the outboard position
5. Excessive fan noise
6. Better thermals
7. WIFI WEP3 capable
8. Stylus
9. Much better d-pad, like on the PS Vita
More?
How is the dpad and front buttons?
They are mushy on the GPD XD.
Also, how about the positioning of the dpad and buttons to the inside instead of the outside? Is it uncomfortable after some time?
Thanks
I don't think 5 years is that long considering that when this is complete, it will be the best device on the market with all the bells and whistles.
The CPU will be outdated but that can be upgraded easily without having to produce a whole nother device.
I know I am going to get nailed for this but...
What if we just gave up on this CPU-GPU combo for the 4GB RAM option and went ahead with the new CPU-GPU upgrade that was going to happen at some point in the future anyways?
We could save those 4GB RAM chips for that new board.
