    pandian - MARK3 - beta

I don't know about USBHost. If I get a chance later, I will check it out.  What's the easiest way to test?  I don't tend to use the USB ports for anything other than charging. To get WiFi back, I had to revert both udev and libudev1 from version 220 to version 215. I couldn't do just one of...

    pandian - MARK3 - beta

I solved the problem!  The problem is due to udev.  Luckily, the old version (215) was in my /var/cache/apt/archives directory so I installed it (along with the library) and everything works fine. There must be a rule change in the latest version (220) of udev that causes problems with the...

    pandian - MARK3 - beta

Further on this, one of the packages that I recently upgraded was udev and I wonder whether rules (in /lib/udev/rules.d/) have changed and/or disappeared?

    pandian - MARK3 - beta

Something similar has just happened to me although I am very puzzled by the behaviour. My WiFi has stopped working.  The output from dmesg indicates that the wl1251 firmware blob is not available. It would seem that I need to install the pandian-wl1251 package but, of course, without WiFi, this...

More Pandoras soon at the shop!

I regularly clock mine at 800 MHz.

More Pandoras soon at the shop!

Given your intended use and the fact that you are considering booting from SD, I would suggest you consider installing something other than SZ on the SD card.  I would recommend Debian (search for Pandian on the forum for one version for the Pandora) but Slackware is another possibility (also in...

    Finishing up the hardware

Bigger screen, faster processor and backlit keyboard, all in the same sized case!  Everything else is icing on the cake for me.  I can't wait. :)

    pandian - MARK3 - beta

It seems to work fine for me.  I have to do the following when I reboot: echo 800 > /proc/pandora/cpu_mhz_max as root and have to have the cpufreq tools installed (cpufreqd, cpufrequtils).  This is on a Pandora rebirth edition so 600 MHz nominally.  The "ondemand" cpu profile works really...

    pandian - MARK3 - beta

Hello all, having had some problems with a recent upgrade to the Pyra Debian system, I decided to try pandian again.  It's so easy to do with SD cards! I've got the system running but I thought I'd summarise a few (mostly minor) issues with the distribution: the initial log in to root didn't...

    Download Pyra Debian OS (WIP)

I have just upgraded the installation   apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade and almost everything went well except that xserver-xorg-video-fbturbo can no longer be installed.  It depends on xorg-video-abi-18 which is not available.  This is probably an upstream Debian issue but it does stop X...

Thanks for the clarification and sorry for the noise!

What solutions are you referring to? I continue to use Debian on my Pandora, on an SD card obviously. Although, as I mentioned above, I don't need the hubs etc., I wouldn't mind being able to use them. 3D acceleration would also not go amiss... Or are you simply referring to alternative...

    Download Pyra Debian OS (WIP)

Two weeks on, using this Debian distribution on my Pandora every day: works like a charm. Battery life is excellent and the WiFi works reliably. I'm very happy with this. The nubs don't work but I haven't actually tried to get them working as I don't tend to use the mouse much anyway. I use...

    Download Pyra Debian OS (WIP)

Answering my own question, I guess loading and unloading the wl1251 related modules do the job of turning on or off the WiFi!

Well, playing around with the Pandora and checking various files, I see that the (default) ondemand cpu frequency changing works quite well. What I don't know is how to turn off the WiFi which is possibly what is now taking the most power.

I have one pressing question regarding using this distribution of Debian on the Pandora: how can I go into low power mode, if at all? Thanks.

Battery level can be checked easily using upower (which needs to be installed). With -enumerate, you can see all the devices; with --show-info and the specific device, you get the details. With --dump, you see everything.

Thanks TrashyMG and edgex004. I'll install gnome-keyring next time I boot up this version of Debian.

I installed the system on my Pandora and I had the same problem. The fix, for me, was to edit the connection using the NetworkManager dialog to specify the security details for the network. For some reason, the system was not prompting for this automatically. Not sure why. I was quite impressed...

    pandian - MARK2

Having just seen EvilDragon's recent post on Debian Jessie for Pyra/Pandora, my immediate question is how this compares with the Pandian effort? I will likely try this out, in any case, as soon as I find a spare SD card in the mess that used to be a desk. :)
