I can see your point, but being able to quickly send something in to standby (like with GP2X Sleep) has the advantage of 'locking' the device from accidental key presses straight away.
I think the best combo might be Energy Saver and a travel case to stop accidental key presses before it sleeps.
GnGeo Beta is great for Neo Geo as it uses both CPU's and now most Neo Geo games run full speed at 200MHz with 22KHz sound.

I have used 'GP2X Sleep'. Not sure how well it works. I paused an emulator, activated it and the batteries still seemed to drain pretty fast. Maybe it works best when not in the middle of something.

In case some of you don't know, this is the only GP2X audio player that supports bookmarking. Could be an option for all you podcasting and audio book fans.
They should both work without decompression packs (after you bypass message). They work better with the decompression packs though. Less time between loading the next bit in to memory.
No support out of the box, but there is an unofficial patch by notaz (one of the most skilled people in the GP2X scene).
