    Pyra without decent web browser?

The recent non-ESR Firefox can be installed from the "Mozillateam" repository on Ubuntu's Launchpad platform. https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages If you're on Debian 10, choose the package for Ubuntu 18.04 (firefox - XXX+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1~mt1) To find the...

    Release dRally

You know the drill. Grab the game files (they're free!). Play the game. Reach the finish line alive. https://pyra-handheld.com/repo/apps/228

Be _extremely_ careful when plugging in the USB charging cable

Sad to hear this after your great success with Slackware earlier. Hmm, if some chips (partly) got killed through the spark, it's strange that the ports sometimes work in Pyra OS but never in Slackware... This remembers me when I wanted to plug in USB devices on my Laptop in the dark, I sometimes...

    Release hode (Heart of Darkness)

The name of this release may be a funny word if you speak german. But since the developer of this engine-rewrite is French, you can call it 'ot if you like :D https://pyra-handheld.com/repo/apps/227

    Release REminiscence

Now it's time for a Flashback! https://pyra-handheld.com/repo/apps/226 According to the changelog, a widescreen mode from the CD-i version is supported. I wonder if this will get us a nice 16:9 fullscreen mode.

    Release OpenRCT2

I did a quick port of OpenRCT2. It runs very slow when there's much on the screen. You can get the Datafiles as described here: https://openrct2.org/quickstart/extract-rct2-files/linux I extracted the Offline Installer from GOG via innoextract. There are some dependencies required to run the...

Should I have received my final order eMail already?

Yes, they're all transparent now. Read here: Okay, how does making the nubs transparent fix things?

    Release Rigel Engine

Since I mainly use Bullseye now, I have just realized that it is not running under Debian 10 Buster! It needs more recent versions of libc6 and libstdc++6 than Buster provides. You can get a Bullseye image from here: https://packages.pyra-handheld.com/images/bullseye/bullseye-4.img.7z Flash it...

    Release Rigel Engine

My first dbp is online! It's a port of Rigel Engine, the re-implementation of the game Duke Nukem II. https://pyra-handheld.com/repo/apps/223 Controls can be easily assigned in the options menu. Use the tab "Keyboard controls" to change keys, not Gamepad controls! Make sure to activate the...

Save backlight intensity value for reboot

To save some battery while fiddling, I often dim the backlight after booting. I realized, that in bookworm (my favorite word atm :D ) the intensity level is saved upon restart. So how can I get this value saved in the "official" Pyra OS?

Anyone else have problems with the underscore ("_") on Bullseye?

In bookworm, there's another character not working anymore: the colon (":"). I'm excited to see which character will stop working in Debian 13 :D
  13. jedi23

    Why not bookworm?

Well the stable release of bookworm is to be expected on June 10th 2023. So I still ask: why not bookworm?

Anyone else have problems with the underscore ("_") on Bullseye?

Thanks for the tip, but no success :( Only pyra-meta-desktop-base was installed and already the recent version. I also installed pyra-meta-base and pyra-meta-mate but no success either. The issue doesn't seem to be related with the pyra-meta packages... Switching to the bullseye branch in...

Expand Pyra OS on SD card

Any idea how to resize the root partition on a bullseye system? The f2fs-tools are incompatible with more recent debian versions, so I get "Error: Device size is not sufficient for F2FS volume, more segment needed =12557".
  16. jedi23

    Why not bookworm?

So the sails are set for a journey towards bullseye. There are now bullseye images and the Pyra-specific packages now have branches for bullseye. However, upgrading a bullseye system to bookworm seems to work well, so why not skip bullseye and move directly to bookworm? Are there any major...

Should I have received my final order eMail already?

That's a great idea and I'd like to do it as well (in several rates) although I got my Pyra nearly 2 years ago when the actual loss wasn't that big. However, the donation page is not working atm @EvilDragon

    Finally, a bit more news!

I wish I have the experience and could help. Does anyone know a really good book like Kernel Development for Dummies?

    Finally, a bit more news!

One thing's for sure. It's better to show your friends a Steamdeck or a Rogally than a Pyra. Especially when you have these average dull friends...
