I just beat the game. It's already pretty fun IMO. I really liked the variety in the mechanics of each boss (especially fighting in the dark against souls).
Couple bugs I found:
The aforementioned monster jumping into Ed. Got me killed three times
Sometimes Ed gets stuck in place after...
It felt slippery to me at first but I started enjoying it a lot a few hours into route B. I only discovered the auto aiming thing a few days after getting Ending E...
I really liked the blending between the main OST and the 8-bit remixes.
A small thing I made a few weekends ago based on NieR: Automata's hacking minigame because I needed a short break from Wally's banhammer.
It's another twin stick shooter without nub support (sorry) but there's auto aiming.
Controls:
Dpad - Move
ABXY - Aim
L - Auto aim
R - Shoot
The repo is...
I only have a high level plan of what I'm doing. The tools aren't pretty but I might make a video later.
I think there're a few things you could do with Deep Spacer Diver:
Platformer - pitfalls would be planets with extremely high gravity you can't escape
SSB style brawler - knock enemies out...
I struggled with maths in school because they kinda just throw numbers and functions at you without any context. Most things became clear to me and easier to retain once I had a use for them.
They're all manually composed. I wrote my own little tool to make models and animations because I couldn't be bothered to learn how everyone else does it.
Hopefully you won't have to wait too long. There'll be some time between Pyra's release and this game's release as I'm quite low down the queue. I preordered last year so there are over a thousand people who will get theirs before me :(
Thanks :)
Do you mean something like the vines in OoT? If so, I haven't done that yet, but it won't be hard to do. You won't be able to go sideways on a ladder though.
Wow, that's a really good idea. It's the kind of thing I can only dream of being able to do. I think if I were to do something like this I'd have to simplify it a little:
First encounter, 2/10 - 0/10
Second encounter, 5/10 - 2/10
Third encounter, 8/10 - 5/10
Fourth encounter, 10/10 - 8/10...
Very true, but I might stay away from them to make sure there are no hurt feelings/lawsuits. Wally's kindheartedness was my personal obstacle to getting everyone banned :-||
Entirely homebrew. The same little engine I wrote for the snake games.
First volunteer! That'll make a good spear.
I...
The larger areas in the game run a bit slow on the Pandora so probably not.
I have vague plans to add most of the forum staff and some members to the game. I'll prioritise the people I hate the least :)
Weird, I was thinking about adding something like this today before you said that...
That's a nice idea. It'd match the T-Shirt he's wearing.
Wally's actually the big guy with the hammer. The main character is EvilDragon. The design is based on this picture.
The mug contains coffee because I heard EvilDragon might be a fan.
