It is not that it is less sturdy but less scratch resistent.
There is no glossy layer of paint on top of it.
That makes it look and feel way better.
Further it makes the layer of paint thinner, which allows for easier opening of the sliding battery mechanism.
As a downside it feels like it's...
I just installed the new housing on mine. It looks and feels great.
I want to test the new paint and see how sturdy it is (spoiler alert, probably not much).
This will be a great reason for me to use my Pyra again :)
That would be so cool. However I fear that companies would heavily lobby aagains this.
Same as China wanted to ban all lootboxes and gambling mechanics from gaming and did give in to companies.
It is already up and all you need is an
apt update
apt dist-upgrade
This is out for a few months already.
It is a fix that has been submitted long ago and aTc just did not push it.
Further I have investigated the cause for the broken _. However aTc does not like my proposed solutions and...
It is not an issue that makes Debian 11 or 12 unstable.
aTc has pushed an update with a fix that makes Debian 12 stable, too.
That however is totally unrelated.
If the RAM timings are off, the PCB won't work, not matter what OS we use. It just won't boot.
In worst case, it will boot but crash...
He would like to do so but needs someone who sets up a build chain for him, so that he can easily test values.
Right now we just have one setting that works with a majority of PCBs. If one fails it is sorted out.
So the issue is that we can not even tweak the values because we get no help with...
@pyrat I forgot to answer on the OMAP NDA topic.
The problem is not som NDA issue.
The real problem is that the OMAP we use was abandoned by TI and has some hardware bugs.
The 4GB RAM issue is one of them, as well as the RAM timing issue.
The OMAP is supposed to set the RAM timings automatically...
Not at all.
That is the most frustrating part of it.
No one cared about Debian 12 and tries to fix the remaining bugs.
I had some fixes for Bookworm supplied but it's harder to contribute to this project than to submit a PR in big tech :(
It seems like a non-optimal fix is worse than a broken...
Not everything comes to halt during Gamescom. There is one more person in the shop who does shipping.
Only the Pyra production comes to halt, because I can not produce Pyras while I am at the Gamescom.
The Gamescom is important because we are distributing a lot of catalogues and are getting a...
On a side note (I also added this to the main post)
It surprised me how one man can make such a difference. To me it seems like this all is not some kind of wizardry. Apparently it is. If it is not, shut up and let me believe that I am a wizard :p
I always thought that if I leave, just someone...
Yeah, just a few months in the industry cured me from programming once and for all.
I am a Psychologist by profession and in November I will start my training as Psychotherapist.
It will be an other 2 years of hard work and learning but after that I will never be forced to work with technology I...
No. We have about 50 copper cases prepared still.
There should be 50 more which are not prepared. We are missing the bottom cases of those. They are probably hidden somewhere.
However most people order the black ones, so if you want a copper one, chances are high that you'll get one.
A new hope
Our story starts in February
Back in February I quit my job as a programmer. Since I had nothing better to do and because I had some random spark of enthusiasm, I decided to go back to the roots. Some might say I am a person who must obviously hate himself a lot, judging how I...
