And from forum posts it looks like the GPU driver situation may not be completely hopeless either.
I don't know whether semiengineering.com is a reputable source, but browsing there seems to indicate that with currently available process technology we've reached a point where faster stuff will also become more expensive. If true that would be a significant change .and may increase the market...
Perhaps working at a Walmart for a while might make options clearer. A friend of mine ended up as a translator and novelist after several very different (mostly low paying) jobs.
IMO the language is one of the less important parts of teaching programming. C like languages might be less suitable because of surprisingly unintuitive syntax, but AFAICT they have worked fine for several generations of programmers. Java has the benefit of pretty complete and exact language...

I think that more support may actually hurt, because the game may decide to use a different - possibly worse on the Pandora - rendering path based on the existence of certain extensions and hard coded assumptions about their relative performance.
Wikipedia says A journalist is a person who collects, writes, or distributes news or other current information. which would fit here. IMO this is an adequate definition.
While I don't think that the goal of 150,000$ will be reached, the (known) MOQs don't seem to be a problem any more: currently there are pledges for 482 computer cards (and 40 pass through cards), 373 housings/breakout boards, and 97 laptops.
