    "Smach Z is Back!" ...?

Well from a tech point of view, it looks pretty decent. If this was in a laptop with proper active cooling this wouldn't be half bad. Processor is more powerful than the one in the win, the AMD processor is significantly faster, with more memory bandwidth, than the 8700, supports ddr4, the...

    "Smach Z is Back!" ...?

The smach Z? Hope I didn't give the impression that I have one, because I do not. Honestly looks like a piece of magical fluff. Similar to GPD win without a keyboard in my opinion worse form factor. My primary use of things like this, the win, the pandora etc is light mobile desktop like use...

If you clock the win down to roughly the same speed as the pandora you will likely see similar battery life to the pandora. Turbo boost (on by default) is effectively overclocking the x86 processor to 2.4 ghz over the normal 1.6ghz (+50% OC) Just like overclocking reduces the battery life and...

yea, i didnt see a way to turn off turboboost in the bios and the only throttle was thermal and i dont like the idea of thermal throttle. hard set caps are more stable regardless, less stutters etc

As an update, set the CPU to 90% CPU max, 1.5ghz. Temps have been fantastic, battery is excellent, after using all day with emails and web browsing it says I still have 9 hours of juice left having only used 20%. This is the battery life I was expecting out of a cherry trail device =) I'm very...

    "Smach Z is Back!" ...?

What I got now runs in windows, it's not live, just an app. It works just like installing kodi in windows except I linked the dependencies to thumb drive so it doesn't need installed and can be ran on multiple computers. I think it needs visual c redistributable but most computers I run have...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

have played with mine most of the day today, my first impression is its built really well. feels solid, looks good, small and has a nice screen. i like the game controls, the keyboard is too small for my liking. I wish they got rid of the set of keys on the right and just made the keys bigger...

What exactly do they plan to do for Kodi other than just bundling the software with the device? Maybe I'm missing something, but I have a portable version on a thumb drive that doesn't even need installed to the host OS. I'm sure you could even build a live Linux that boots directly into kodi...

*looks at my half paint worn off, non-functioning left shoulder button, cracked case on the lid, buldge under the LCD, snapped off battery clip, staticy volume knob, horrendous wifi strength, has never closed evenly on both sides pandora, remembers the price I paid for it and gives her a hug...

Susposed to be Corning gorilla glass 3. You should be able to get away with no screen protection. Paired with the clamshell design you are probably safe as long as you don't store sandpaper in the middle when not in use. The XD had a pretty resilient screen as well, mine has never seen a screen...

    expensive?

The race to the bottom benefits everyone in end if you ask me. More of a philosophical argument of when innovation and automation converge with the free market. We wouldnt have anywhere near the advances in technology without it. That's a discussion for another thread I think.

    expensive?

I tend to agree with the $300 golden rule for game consoles, and I do think some of that is in there. However problem I see with the argument I think is when looking at other tech that serve similar functional purposes other than games. Even the irrational gamer part of me recognizes it's other...
