    Playing with Play-Doh

I thought the 80/20 rule for the government was 80% of the people do 20% of the work and the last 20% do 80% of the work

I agree, this indication of it being two months™ away, feels more like the last of the two months™ away indications, than any of the previous indications of it being two months™ away.

Anybody considering picking up an Oculus Rift..?

totally, I used to be into vr back in the early 2000's, I was also in the US army. Lots of training simulators used (really shitty) VR contraptions to prepare troops for combat. It was neat at the time, and probably cost tons of money in R&D. I imagine the tech existed probably back to the 90's...

    Nintendo Switch

The switch is in a similarly awkward design space that the ipad was in when it first came out. People said the ipad was going to cut into their ipod touch and macbook air sales because at the time it appeared as a mashup of the two. I think to some degree it did, but it became it's own line...

    Nintendo Switch

It might be a bit early to say so because I haven't fully beaten it yet (~40 shrines found). I think breath of the wild might just be the best game I have ever played.... by a lot. The game is truly a masterpiece, I liked it a whole lot at first, but after about 20ish hours in, I think I'm now...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

the controller firmware is different than the bios update, the utility runs within windows. You hold down R3 on powerup IIRC, you lose the ability to use the controller in that mode until you either reset or flash the controller firmware. For some strange reason some of the bios config stuff in...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Did the controller firmware update as well. It's noticeably better than what it shipped with. Main thing for me was analog page scrolling for web browsing worked, but was shitty, now it's near perfect.

GPD WIN 10 gamepad system manual

I understand, what I was trying to separate was the term "firmware" in reference to an android device, they are talking about all the bootloaders (PBL/SPL), the OS, and possibly cellular radio firmware in one full package, as rarely are they separated out in releases. When people refer to...

GPD WIN 10 gamepad system manual

I don't disagree that android devices are overall simpler devices than full computers. The firmware of a PC is usually just the bios and electronic components that have writable space on them. Android devices and other embeded system's firmware act differently in that the firmware and the OS are...

GPD WIN 10 gamepad system manual

Now, I'm a big supporter of the WIN, I think it's an excellent device. and I'm getting a lot of use out of mine. Mainly as a miniature computer (office/web etc) rather than a dedicated gaming device. As a computer, it performs for me completely within it's spec. I would definitely recommend it...

    RetroEngine Sigma - Interested?

it's the same as orange pi you say? Interesting. Raspberry pi 3 is my current "console" for retro gaming and it performs great for older generation consoles. Seems like a good deal as far as a bundle is concerned. If what you are paying for with this "unique idea" is a pastic molded case that...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

I notice the battery preservation thing happening that goes too 100% then "unplugs" down to about 90% or so then will charge back up. I wonder if the profile is set to sleep being unplugged it's in that discharge cycle.

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

you get any windows log messages at the time you attempt to wake it? It sounds like sleep state / power saving problem. If changing the C state didn't fix it, maybe remove any throttling, over or under clocking and turn off any power save features in windows you got enabled to see if you can't...

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Try changing the C states in the bios, I can't remember what I have mine at C7 maybe? but I would try setting it to that or dropping it down to C5 or C6 if c7 is giving you issues

GPD Win (x86 Computer / Palmtop)

Hmm, that sounds like something that should be resolved in a firmware update. I wonder if GPD has acknowledged the problem, my other windows tabs don't do that. Glad to hear it's not a bandwidth issue, something firmware wouldn't fix. The bandwidth seems poor as well besides that, but that part...

    "Smach Z is Back!" ...?

to their benefit, they are pushing for a extremely modular chipset as opposed to most everything else out there that probably has a handful of major sub models depending on spec options. More configurations than most desktops even. it does sound like a logistical nightmare though, if they are...

search settings for tablet mode, there is an option to set what happens when you sign in. I think it sees the device as an actual tablet. You can choose to default to desktop mode. I also find for me, that installing things to the sdcard causes stutters, I think in my situation it's a bandwidth...
