You know, considering how few people have Pandoras...

Thing is, systems like the GP2X or Wiz, while having at least 15 times as many units shipped, have only about three times as many games as the Pandora library.

We must discuss this matter.

Well I don't have one yet either, but I would imagine the proper people got there hands on the first few that were released which enabled all of the development to happen, which is awesome because it creates hype and makes people want one (like me!). Very good point!

Don't forget that prototypes have been sent to some of the high profile developers way before actual shipping started.

Not all of those devs managed to deliver, but some of them have done an awesome job.

Regardless, a big thank you to all developers who have released or are working on software.

I've said it once, I'll say it again.

I was a GP2X early adopter, and was subsequently dropped into a world of shoddy hardware and not an awful lot of apps/games/software, at a time when I really didn't have the ability to write or port anything for myself. I subsequently sold the GP2X.

The Pandora, however, has been quite fortunate that it's had this maturing period before it starts "mass" production and shipping. I imagine many of the guys buying late into Batch 1 and into Batch 2 will have the same instant gratification mindset that I did. Only this time, they'll get that gratification. They'll get it good.

My Pandora is coming dangerously close to shipping at the same time as the iPad 2, though. Grumble. A new Apple product release means I'm super-ultra-busy reviewing cases. All that awesome software is going to be a productivity killer.

Also, don't forget about GINGE.

Yes, I do have a lot to say. Why do you ask?
You don't have a lot to say though. For example, this thread is pointless and contributes nothing. All it does is pushes another, far more relevant, thread off the front page. This is unfair on other posters. Please stop hitting the New Thread button.

+1

The GP2X was a mess as far as installing and standardizing software design. I loved my GP2X but it was difficult to use, everything installed differently it seemed. I have been without my GP2X for two year so maybe my memory is a little rusty. I did never buy a wiz because of my experiences with the GP2X though. another reason was the Pandora looked much much more easy to use and I'm a Linux user and having a full OS was much more appealing.

The Pandora being closer to a full desktop computer, as in the OS not necessarily the keyboard, will make it easier to use I would think. Also the pnd system helps immensely I'm sure. I'm sure the Pandora has the potential to attract a lot more nontechnical users that the GP2X did.

Actually, the GP2X and Wiz didn't give me too much trouble. This is coming from someone who couldn't tell Linux from a hole in the wall.

+3

Not really, but it is funny when there is only one layer of quotes on this forum. What was the +1 for? Yes, one more is 2 and one more on to that is 3. You kinda have to use mulit-quote to know what the heck is going on. Eh, it's all on the same page but I'm too lazy to look up.

I feel that it was difficult and I have used Linux exclusively for 10 or so years. The OS implementation on the GP2X was just not done well, I think GPH wanted the developers to take it where it needed to go. It looks like the OP team is ironing things out a ton more.
