One day late but more goodies instead

Also, has there been any plans for Trey to visit again? I would like to see how things are looking now that CC has been going at it for a few solid weeks.

Nothing has been scheduled yet. But i'll try to get them to arrange a stop by in the next week or two.

That sounds great Trey, thanks for checking in! Also, if and when you do make another trip, hopefully you can find out at that point what their specific output level is(300,500 a week, ect.) As they should be going fairly smoothly by then, since the holidays will be done.

Chris

The boards have arrived yesterday, so the team can finally start assembling the next units (might take a few days though, don't know if they work on holidays :) )

Also, the next 300 boards in Texas are finished already (they only made a pause during christmas days).
Gosh! This is sound more like mass production. :D

200 IF you can read this, either I'm real tall or my shirt is untucked
this should be a REM statement. :p

there were 5 revisions of the mould so I'd recommend using a for loop.

Otherwise PDG. Could of done with this 2 years ago.

You're absolutely sure of that? Have you been to England and seen them? Whose word are you relying on to make that claim?

I believe my previous comment still stands.

If ED says they have arrived... they have arrived.

So is everything available to make these next 300? I can't remember, is the company in Texas the ones making the LCD ribbons also?

@ ZXDunny: Holly crap man calm down, ED is just reporting what he has been told which is probably from Craig so I'd bet it is the truth. Wait, or tracking numbers, so UPS reported that they were delivered.

So long as they can keep this moving, all should be great.

I know I desperately want one, but I really can't afford to tie up my distressingly meager funds without knowing. Thus, I'm holding out till I can pay and have my pandy shipped within the week :) I'm so excited that it's actually conceiveable that such a day could realistically arrive this spring.

Thanks, though, to the brave, hopeful folks who pre ordered and made this whole project possible!

Trust me, I am calm :p

I've highlighted the problem for you. If it was the UPS tracking system that reported it, then it's a much better bet that the cases are there. We still have no idea if anything has actually been done with them though. All we have is a tweet from craig which states that 350+ will ship next week, so I suppose there's nothing to do but wait and see how many weeks pass before they really get shipped.

After all this time, you still believe what OPT are telling you? Seriously? I've lost count of the number of times I've been told that my Pandora will ship "very soon".

The UPS tracking number...?

I don't know about you, but UPS tracking never lied to me...

If you look at it like that it's certainly a great improvement. Though, shipping them apparently takes a full week and assembling them another week. So assuming the next 300 are shipped next week, they would ship out to customers in the third week of January. Not exactly decent production speed unless they can manage to set up a steady weekly flow of boards being shipped instead of the incidental bursts we're seeing now.
I think the plan was to ship more than 300 next week (whatever they have achieved in the last 2? days) so that they arrive just as the current 350 get finished. If they can ship 500 or 600 instead of 300 that makes a big difference to the costs, and it also keeps final assembly busy for a few days longer so the 3rd shipment can be also a little larger without adding much to delays. (that would also take us past the half-way point for batch 1)

Who knows, maybe it will only take a couple more batches after that. The final PCB rate needs to be seen now they have nothing else in the way.

Makes me regret I didn't order in batch 1... argh how I long to hold a Pandora in my hands!

I know the wait is worth it. Sadly I can't think of anything equal to the Pandora on the market.

Also its opensource concept is what makes it so interesting to me...

I'm a PSP Custom Firmware Creator and know the pain of hacking commercial systems to be opensource capable...

Closest I've seen is someone I know was told their order from newegg was delivered at about noon, it wasn't there, they called newegg and got a new shipment sent, but the original package showed up around 6pm (way after the last delivery should have been made that day). Other than that I've never seen an issue with the tracking

That sounds like what happens in my condo unit all the time.. It gets delivered to my neighbour, he gets home and brings it to me.

So, all they need to do in England is open up the cases, put the boards inside, close the case, test the unit, pack it and ship it? Sounds pretty likely to me that hundreds of people should get their Pandora next month!

In the meanwhile I'll be playing some Pier Solar for the SEGA Mega Drive (a brand new RPG which came out this month).

Quote from EvilDragon

Naja, "nur" ist gut. Software drauf dauert ca. 10 Minuten pro Gerät, testen auch nochmal so 1 Minute.
Das wird zwar parallel zum Bauen gemacht, aber es muss gemacht werden :)

Well only is good, id needs about 10 Minutes per unit to put the software on it, and to test the units also 1 Minutes,

Whe make it parallel to the pandora building, but whe need to do that.. :)

I'm still waiting for my copy, it's also on the way.

Hehe - I preordered and paid this long before the Pandora preorders took place :D

Another homebrew project that took a while... but is still very much appreciated :D
