No reason to bash (2010-12-15)

I've said this before. I'm not sure why CC is being ear marked as a villain. Okay the CEO looks like Mr. Zorg (Gary Oldman in Fifth Element) or the masked guy from V is for Vendetta but if they pick up the project and produce boards at a reasonable rate then Batch 1 is done without further drama.

To this point we have messed them about more than they have us (bullshit aside - struggling letting them off for that but we sort of knew/guessed/expected that).

Pissing them off serves no purpose.

We're all (well most of us are) adults here.

The fact is that this is a preproduction product in a very small run. 4000 units is nothing compared to the number of iphones. There are going to be unexpected problems. But given that there's also nothing like it on the market, I think it's worth the wait.

You may not have to look the people at CC in the eye, but I do. So please remember to be respectful and informed about what you say. You all represent the community.

Any idea when the first shipment of completed boards is going to make its way to the UK?

From what I have read there is so far no precise date for the delivery of any boards, but a wild guess would be 2 months!

The whole "let's go Anonymous on their ass"-type posts in the other thread were completely out of line and should have been removed immediately. Other than that, though, I'm not sure what you mean by "bashing". If they claimed they had 2000 finished boards, but only had 500, then they lied. You simply reporting that fact, is telling the truth. Whatever damage done to their reputation by the revelation, is their own fault for lying in the first place.

Really, I don't know what the hell's going on here anymore. This game of telephone between Texas and Germany obfuscates everything. But if they've definitely been lying for months on end, then I have no intention of calling that anything other than exactly what it is, or pretending it's not a big deal, just to protect the reputation of a company that doesn't deserve it. If posting here requires that, than I guess I'm done here.

There. That's a line drawn underneath it. :)

Boards are being built, the nubs work, OPT are still flat out, so let's all have a happy Christmas and see what we get in the new year...

That's the positive spirit, Hopefully we get all batch 1 Pandora's next year, but for certain we will be getting more updates

Happy New year to you too

I think for the most part all this just underlines how frustrated people are with one thing after another in general. Just like it was just before production started over in the GP32x boards where people would start nonsense threads just to have something to talk about until there was some real news. The instant there was news (good or bad) people would talk about it endlessly until it was deconstructed to the point where someone found an inconsistency and flames erupted over it.

In much the same way, info finally came out, it wasn't what people wanted to here and in the absence of anything else to talk about people talked about this until CC had grown horns a tail and started murdering babies. In the end what they did was not the best thing they could have done but companies do it ALL THE TIME, it's sadly the way most businesses work to greater or lesser extent.

The question now is what happens if there's another lull while we're waiting for the first 500 boards to get turned into pandoras and some other issue comes up. Murphy's in the corner with a monkey wrench ready to toss it in the works. I sure hope people are prepared for the shit storm that may come if he really decides to use it.

No, no they don't. I don't know why people keep saying that. If you think this type of behavior is just SOP for one company supplying another, then you have know idea how business operates in the real world. If the company I work for tried pulling something like this, all hell would break loose.

In the real world, everyone has deadlines. If a company needs to set a date to deliver a product to their customers, they have to know that all the schedules from their suppliers are as accurate as possible. And in turn, their suppliers have have to base their own schedules on information from their suppliers. This goes all the way down the line to the people raping the Earth for the raw materials. If lying for 4 months straight about your production was acceptable behavior, then entire supply chains would be reduced to giant clusterfucks and nothing would ever get made.

Yeah you're right if this kept happening we'd be in the middle of some kind of world wide financial crisi-- oh wait.

People keep saying it because it's true, I've seen my ex-bosses do it themselves, why do you think they're my ex-bosses? Because they screw up and it costs them buisness and they have to lay people off. Companies have deadlines and many times they meet them, when they don't they either have two responses, they tell the truth, or they lie. For some it catches up with them for others it doesn't.

Well I couldn't agree with you more but we are all waiting for a incredible product for the true emulation gamer or gamers I should say, anyway this is very hard for all of us to swallow because I for one look at this website everyday to see if there is a miracle of change that I am one step closer to getting this device but I hope that everything gets straighten out so we can finally get the device that we been waiting 1 1/2 or 2 years for....Thanks for all the info ED and the whole OPT team!!!

Sigh... you might as well lock this thread too. It seems folks can't let go of the animosity that was in the recently locked down thread. If you had your bitch session in the locked thread, please don't repeat it here. If someone else bitched about the same freaking thing in the locked thread, don't repeat it here. I am afraid to count how many folks are already complaining that CC lied in this thread. This is ridiculous. Let it freaking go.

Lock this thread too please. And keep things locked down until folks learn to play nice again.

YEAAAA... cause that's going to fix the problem....

Note that it's only in response to people saying that it's ok, or saying that what they did was good business. It could be argued that if the people trying to stick up for CC and overlooking that they lied for months about production status "let it go" the whole thing would simply disappear.

So who's going to stop first? :p

He totally looks like Tony Stark. I have been saying all along the nub company deserves our combined forum hatred at this stage. :)

Come on everybody. Trolling your business partners in a public forum is NOT good form, and if you consider us a community then CC are OUR partners, not just the OPT's.

The comments in these threads were embarrassing enough before we worked out who the board company was. Now we have outright slander and personal attacks against the character of the CEO. That is bang out of order, and arguably far more poisonous to the relationship then any mis-representation may have occurred on CC's part.

If CC decide that this project is not worth the bad blood then they might very well drop us and just hand over what ever is finished. We'd be then either be looking at another 6 months of delays, or possibly the complete failure of the project.

So quit yer belly aching. WTF is a couple of weeks in the scheme of things anyway?

Yeah I agree lets just put the fact that the boards arent done like they said in the crap happens catagory file it away and let it be done. They made boards befor, they work great, so they can obviously do it so lets just be like the Fonz. And what is the Fonz? Cool so lets just let it go. B)

It's uncool to overlay an image of Tux with those lame M$ Movie Faker Maker credits :( . And worse - a song that comes with Windows on top of that...seriously, have they no respect??

-NOTE- not a bashing, just some lulz. It was probably put in by the video uploader, maybe not CC.

Not your fault, DaMummy :p

Cool! If he can make us arc reactors to power the Pandoras, I'll be really impressed :)
