just curious guys.

did anyone here used their pandora on reading manga (japanese comics) online? and if so, what is your experience. does it fit the screen nicely? is it readable? etc etc...

thanks! :D

does it fit the screen nicely?
You could just resize a browser window to 800 by 480 and see for yourself whether your favorite manga site handles it properly.

I suspect they're just large scanned images of each page, so if the images are wider than 800 pixels, it will look like crap.

Maybe some JavaScript hacks can make them more usable. I know Firefox and Chrome support these.

Readability of a screen actually depends on quite a few things. There's a tiny Sony laptop with a tiny 1600x768 screen that's perfectly readable at standard text sizes (which look ridiculously small on that screen). Brightness, Contrast, color range, calibration and more are all important for readability. As the Pandora has a rather good screen (from what I heard, at least), even reading comics > 780px by zooming out MIGHT be painless (not implying it is, but it's possible that it is).

Yes I use it every day to read manga on the transit. On evince you can rotate the page to read it sideways, but some small letters aren't legible.

On non-rotated mode, it is pleasant to read, altough sometimes you must go up and down many times to follow the story.

Besides the iPad, I think the Pandora is the best way to read manga digitally.

Downloading and using a dedicated reader is likely to give better results than webreaders.

I use Comix on my laptop, although I imagine it will be less legible on a lower resolution screen.

Although it does have a magnifier that could be quite useful.
