And so they double... (2010-09-30)

I'd much rather have nubs with the higher grade sillicone - I've waited two years, I can wait a bit longer :p . Besides, I've had a go on my friend's Pandora, and the nubs are really nice to use. It would be nice to get better nubs than his, as revenge for his skipping the queue :p (he skipped the queue, got a one nub unit, it broke, returned it, received a unit with two nubs back and he was originally around 3,500 in the queue -.- ;)

October 17th is my birthday - and my wish is: All boards finished and non-failing, great-working nubs at least ready for mass production.

October 16th is my birthday! I hope to have my Pandora by then, but it doesn't seem likely now :C

Well, December 14th is mine and if I don't have my Pandora by then you better throw me a party. :D

If production starts up again at the end of October and continues steadily at 200 per week, the first batch should be done by the middle of February. And then if the second batch starts production right then, there is a slight chance I'll get mine by my birthday, February 22.

How did he do that? Just curiosity, I assure you, I have absolutely no intent to do it myself. None at all. Nah, none.

well, is there anybody here interested in getting a pandora with the old nubs? like users who will use the touchscreen and/or dpad more? hahaha! ^_^

EDIT: i meant about the post of ED that he can ship us units with the old nubs now at our own risk. ;)

Units will go out in the order the orders came in at (subject to reordering shenaigans etc.). So if there are any units built with the fully tested nubs, those will go out to the next people who ordered them first, and if they break within warranty, OP will replace them AIUI.

I am confused. I was told I was 600-800 in place for my order and I haven't received anything. In this post you said there are 800-900 in the users hands... So this confuses me. Are orders going out according to order numbers or are they somewhat random?

There is more than one store, which skews the order numbers a little. A percentage of the Pandora's go to Evil Dragon's German store and Fatih's I think may have a store as well.. so the 800-900 units isn't how much that were solely shipped from Craigix's UK store.

Plus, you may be customer #600-800, but suppose that earlier customers have bought larger numbers, say 10, 20, for reselling purposes. That would make your customer # still 600-800, even though there have been 800-900 Pandoras made and delivered so far, before yours.

I certainly hope this is not the case. When producing and selling a product like this in very limited numbers, OPT should certainly not be selling groups of them to resellers. It's great to sell in bulk once you've got sufficient production, but to force customers who've paid in advance - months and, it seems, years in some cases - to wait longer because you sold groups to what amounts to scalpers is terrible.

It doesn't seem that bad when you consider they expected to get 3000 out, 6 months (?) after the original pre-ordering, and presumably more shortly after.

And they couldn't exactly turn around later and say: "Hey you who ordered 10 over a year ago can't have them anymore."

After some things of the things that Craig has decided - this wouldn't surprise me.

At the very least.. we'll deliver one now and the rest later

From when we get the finished boards. Depending on the nubs this could start sometime mid until end October.

Please forgive my lack of reading comprehention. :) I'm in the same boat (1st batch - around 2,300). The previous poster asked when he would get his. So what do you mean exactly by "could start sometime mid until end October"? Are you saying people in our spot in line should receive them around that time? Or that you will start making ours around that time? Which would mean with assembly, tetsing, pack, ship, we would receive them closer to November? (If all goes well with the nubs of course)

BTW, I ordered mine in March. And my ETA has changed several times (as everyone elses here) and while its a bother, here's just one more customer who is still thrilled as hell by what you guys have done and cannot wait to get their Pandora. It may be difficult to wait but in terms of what you have produced and what we'll be getting for our very painful wait, it's worth it! I have pretty much all of the "open" handhelds and yours is by far the most well thought out open source handheld made specifically for gaming (all gens of gaming) and networking. Frankly, I'm surprised a larger manufacturer hasn't already courted you with a heap of cash to buy the design and rights and mass produce - then again, who said that hasn't happened? ;)

Anyway, I can't wait for my number to come across your production cell. ...but I must - so I will. So until then, I'll stop bugging you guys. Less reading... more assembling! LOL! :)

Honestly, if I was in his shoes, this is exactly what I'd do. Ordered multiples? You get one up front, the rest later when products are available.

You want to get products into as many individual's hands as possible. More people with Pandora's = more happy customers showing their friends their cool new toy = more sales.

You've got to remember though that the people who bought multiples took a bigger gamble on this than any other pre-orderers, so why should they be moved to the back of the queue now their investment is coming to fruition? They paid up front for their position in line, so they're entitled to it. They backed the project financially, so I think they deserve to make a few quid on ebay if they want. B)
