i've sent a PaperWars pandora port to uni.

I think he'll add it to the downloads tonite, so you might want to give a try and give us feedback, please.
PaperWars
I had to re-vote just for it !
Bye and many thanks for all these great games, I didn't expect THAT level of quality :)

Is that right? With 2 days left of voting? That can change the outcome of the votes totally. I don't want to be "that guy", just pointing it out (the guy above me re-voted because of that). I would be OK if it was his first vote though.

doh... I didn't know we could continue adding more platforms passed the deadline... hmmm I suppose people should be voting on how good the game is irrespective of supported platforms... but I agree this will obviously stir things up a bit.

Thanks for the Pandora port of Paper Wars, it does look a lot better seeing it rendered realtime as opposed to a YouTube video... I'll try to give it a proper play tonight.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that I am not deliberately excluding any platforms... I'm trying to get a working DLL built for PenjinTwo on Windows... I have some compiler issues for Dingoo and Wiz... well every build I've let people test has just frozen...

On Windows if it comes down to it, I'll just include the PenjinTwo source and compile everything as one...

Hi,

Seemed strange to me too, but PaperWars is a great game, and it enters my top 4. I wanted to play that game from day one, but had to wait for a port to the Pandora, because I can only vote for games I can actually play. Did you guys vote for games based upon screenshots and videos ? Is there something about submitting a port to a new platform after the deadline in the compo rules ?
EDIT:
Updates to entry must not be made available until voting has finished, except ciritcal updates, such as game failing to start, which must be sent to organizers for distribution
EDIT 2: I've sent a PM to u9i about this.

If there is something wrong about my vote, please let me know, and I'll go back to my previous top 4.

Bye, Magic Sam

Bye, Magic Sam

The ports we made for Pandora and Wiz are the same as what we originally submitted. We haven't made any updates at all. Still no sound and music  . Now people without a Caanoo can try our game as well! And as usual, the only place you can download this game is from the contest's own entries page.

I certainly hope nobody is judging games based entirely upon images and videos!

We know, it lacks of sound, but we just didnt manage it to get that in in time :-(
Urgh, right now my Pandora is in repair. :( And I love Advance Wars &Co. *sniff*
Are there at least some (more) screenshots of this game?

Hi everyone,

I will make a quick reply for now (short on time). I completely support, and even encourage releasing the game on more platforms. This is the whole point of the competition. The games are exactly the same across platforms, and several games have already been added to different platforms, and some have also had crash- and other bug-fixes.

Bug and crash fixes I understand, but adding a whole new port 2 days before end of voting?

I agree with BlackCurtain here.

Not that I would be against a pandora port of Paper Wars, hell no, I am really glad there is one. But I think it should have been clear to everyone from the beginning that adding platforms during the voting is ok.
To say it brutal: Others had to spend time (and that isn't only developing but also building and testing) on bringing their game to multiple platforms until the deadline - time they could have spended on features if they would have known this. So I guess it's not fair...

Already pointed out: I do not think that the music in Guitar on Fire is legal, is it?

...well, I am going to test PW now. But I won't consider to vote for it...

hell guys... <_<

i've sent it over to uni and stated in my mail(s) that the ports exist, i didn't release them somewhere else and it's his decision to put them on the page for download.

i don't see what's wrong - people were ACTIVELY ASKING for the ports, so that they are able to play them on the consoles they own. even WINDOWS BUILDS were requested, which would have made it available to even more people. you got so little confidence in your own submissions that it makes a difference that your game wont win just because more people are able to play ours?

damn i'm pretty much thinking about withdrawing it from the compo if it's such an uproar. getting through nuisance all the time if you do something FOR the community makes me pretty angry right now. it's free, it's for you, whats the deal?

*edit*
take a look at uni's tweets and the riotdigital page and decide yourself; others also had their games updated after the deadline, so that they actually work. so what's the difference - updating a build that wasnt working before or submitting a working build. and just to note, it's just a freakin *recompile*. compare the data folder, nothing has been added or has been improved. it's still 100% the same game on all 3 platforms.

If it was made clear before the deadline that ports could be made after the deadline and during the voting, then I would've also spent these last 2 weeks making additional ports for the competition to increase my chances of gaining votes. I'm just saying this should have been stated clearly in the rules beforehand.

Yeah... I spent the last couple of days before the compo, simply setting up packaging scripts and getting cross-compiles working... I could have coded for two days if I clearly knew it was within the rules to do this during the voting process, but what's done is done.

And PaperWars, yes I'm glad you made it available for Pandora and it is a great game! And I don't think people are grumbling at you personally... I think there is a feeling of sour grapes with those that did not realise, myself included, that "no further updates" actually meant "No source updates" and we would be free to add support for more platforms. Surely you can understand that if this was very clearly expressed, certain people would have managed their time a little differently, again myself included.
