Hi,

I want to try the April 25, 2011 Adobe Flash 10.2 plug-in for Cortex A8 Linux.

http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/adobeflash-a8.html

I filled out the form (for this and previous version) and have never received a response from Adobe.

Any google-fu or URL's to try?

Thanks!!!

It's Texas Instruments you're contacting there, not Adobe. TI is doing all the work, Adobe does not participate in that Cortex-A8 optimised player.

I never got a reply either, but I was able to get a copy from a rapidshare link. Frustratingly I don't know if I still have it, and even if I do I won't have access as the HDD it'd be on is at this moment in time in another country. I'll have it back in a few weeks and if you can't find it again I'll upload it if I still have it. I forgot all about it till I saw this thread so I never got round to trying it, and despite searching I can't find it again using google.

Shouldn't the OP team contact about this? Maybe Notaz our one of the devs on firmware etc. for condiferation of inclusion.

Won't work :(

Sounds like Adobe doesn't want that anyone uses Flash. XD
Seriously, these guys seems to have really issues with flash, in various ways.

Adobe's new slogan...

"We are Flash bastards."

Ed, try telling them you have a potential test base of 3000 knowledgable users willing to put the alpha/beta ARM flash plugin through it's paces. This might be a great incentive for them, they may want to use us as guinnea pigs as we are better equiped than most phone users to deal with potential issues and crashes. We of course would love to be used as guinnea pigs, (so long as they don't neuter us like they do in animal testing labs - I draw the line at having my balls cut off just to watch a youtube video).

Oh - thank you very much for the kind compliments Kangal. It's nice to know someone appreciates my sense of humour.

Back on topic, as I was just mentioning in the thread about the new Midori PND which supports flash, I think I just found the copy of 10.2 beta I downloaded from somewhere shortly after it was released. I haven't had a chance to test it yet as I'm not with my pandora at this moment in time, but I will of course test it and report back at some point. Cough splutterr nudge nudge (hinting subtlely)... for this purpose I did attach and send a copy to myself at my email address "Titan@linuxmail.com" which I log onto at the www.mail.com site. I'm concerned that using the *exact* username that I have on here as my email log in password may not have been very secure. I guess any naughty person who would like to try this plug in would easily be able to log in and download the attachment. Thankfully I know you are all very trustworthy people here...

If anyone was able to get the plugin from somewhere (though I don't know how they would do that of course) it would be really nice if they could report back and let me know if it was the right thing and if it worked any better than the older one. Oh and for those that didn't realise it, I think all beta versions of Flash have the red bar at the top which gets longer with time till it takes up the whole first row of the flash content. I think it's just a way of identifying test plugins. I remember the same thing on linux Mint when I tried the x64 beta.

EDIT: You might need to change the name if you do find a copy. Check out the instructions in the new Midori thread for details.

EDIT 2: I meant to say my email adress was @linux.org, NOT linux.com. Also, it has been pointed out that there might be some indication this plugin is older - but I can't be sure.

Worth mentioning; the file rename is only "required" (would work without it, but it can break) for midori and the new build of jumanji. It was a quick hack to get webkit prefer the adobe one before the gnash one, as I wasn't sure what the filename of the gnash one is and if it was likely to change.

What version of the plugin was included in the firefox Beta? And is there some kind of flash Benchmark to really see which version is faster?
Now that Midori has flash I have the "problem" that all the add banners are loaded. Is there a way to activate/deactivate the plugin for each site? Or are there popup blockers that work with Midori?

I think the plugins are broken atm, I'll try to fix it in the next release. There is supposed to be a ad blocker in the included plugins, I just need to get them working.

TitanUranus, I think you mean linuxmail.org ;)

Also, are you sure that it's from April 25?

The one I copied over from Firefox says 30/01/2011, while the one I *found somewhere* says 16/11/2010, so it looks like it's an older version unless they messed with their timestamps.

Yes, I did mean linux.org - thanks for reminding me! It would have been very frustrating for me not to be able to get into my own account, should I have wanted to.

Maybe it is an older one, though it's also possible the time stamps are wrong. Midori keeps telling me there's a time error as the time lies in the past. Perhaps I was abducted by aliens....

The big question is, does the plugin work and is it any faster/better or slower/worse?

Thanx for taking care of this, also thanks for solving the speed dial issue. :)
The flash plugin has potential, I hope we will get faster versions and especialy free available versions of this plugin for Pandora. Lets hope for Pandora DSP support 'n Stuff in the near future. 240p Videos already working, I've watched the trailer for the new Minecraft version today onto my Pandora, besides fullscreen it worked perfect. But I guess Adobe has to put alot more work into their ARM flash plugin until it works smooth like on PCs.

Well, I tested it (see further comments in the Midori thread) and the answer is that no, it doesn't work. So it's probably last-year's version after all.
Last year's version MD5: 9daf1c8c214ba9317d0aa3111ab9b51c
This one: 267bfdb38d14c9d96d0d04e273c3d961
So not the same version :)

Well, I did get round to trying it, some flash content worked fine (and quick) other bits didn't work. All in all I think sticking with the one from Firefox is the best way to go. At least it's now "around and about" in case anyone wants to fart about with it. I was able to use it to put a bet on at Bet365 where some of the live betting was working but other bits weren't.

Thanks ESN and JBye for checking it out anyway, sorry it's a bit of a dissapointment. I'm certain we will get good flash one day, probably around the time it's finally been ditched for something a little less shit - for now it does seem to be an integral component of the internet though. Definitely we need some adblock (I love adblock plus in firefox).

Thankfully I've been successful using Midori to do live betting on the French open... My poor pet rabbit has an eye infection, and without winning lot's of money it's hard to get him the eyedrops and pay the vet. He's worth every penny though, most important thing in the world to me. Pandora comes in second if we exclude specificly male anatomical features attatched to me. Not so fussy about ones atached to anyone else, though they are fun to kick.

EDIT: Wooohooo! my 500th pointless post. Someone give me a fudge donut to celebrate.
