Streets Of Rage Remake V5 (Finally!)

I'm not sure if it will run natively on the Caanoo or not. I got it running on the Wiz and with the exception of some slowdowns it runs nice and is an awsome game.
Thank you Damian IW and pepppe for helping out with this!

thanks pepppe for the script and upload, ran out of time yesterday but did manage to overclock mine to 800 and run, I too tried with music and like you say the occasional paise but otherwise ok - I wonder of downsampled ogg files would improve the speed.

Lack of 2 player is a shame but at least the save file is portable across platforms :)

I'd like to hear if anyone gets it running on caanoo, I can't see why not as bennu is the interpretor and has a caanoo version, gp2x does too but does it have less ram than the wiz ?

Really this was a case of understanding how to create and launch a bennu script, bomberlink who made the game must take most thanks as the wiz support is built into v5, it even has a controller graphic in the options :)

managed to finish it once, 2 player on pc, going to be a lot harder on wiz!

Well, thanks for all the hard work anyway. What makes this even sweeter is because said company tried to shut this project down and it looks like they've failed. I'm glad because this particular company pulled nothing but a dirty, rotten trick. Homebrew all the way baby!

Nice one, thanks guys - stupid question incoming, though... how do you apply/where do you run the patch kindly created by pepppe?

I tried it through Ginge on my Caanoo and it didn't work. Can anyone help me with this?

On Caanoo to run Streets of Rage Remake V5 use must change the "sor.gpe" in the rar package, with this one:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4G7S4QII

This is ONLY FOR CAANOO, not Wiz (according to instruction in file...).

Try and let us know if worked.

I only follow your pattern Damian, thanks to you for this wonderful present!

SORR on Wiz is..... is.............. over, is more...... is indescribable! :D

SEGA HAS TO remove that program. It is made on and composed with great part of a SEGA property. Technically Bomber Games "stolen" a property of SEGA. Streets of Rage is a trademark and in this days Streets of Rage 2 is coming on iPhone, and SoRr is an economic damage for the company that (NEVER FORGET) create this HUGE state-of-art videogame: SEGA. ;)

So, very very very thanks to bomber games that have made a GREAT job, but if they can do this is because SEGA, 20 years ago, made this wonderful videogame! ;)

SEGA, if want to do the right thing, should employ this people. Streets of Rage Remake, with some little improvement and correction, is a game that on Xbox Live Arcade, Wii, PSN, could sell (IMHO) over a MILLION copies. If you think this game could be priced around 15 euro-dollars.... ;)

BUT SEGA on market laws and mechanism, on marketing never understand anything... this is the problem.

You must follow Damian instructions on page one at the bottom.

Tried it and not sure if I did something wrong. I made an ini file but not sure if I did it right. How is it supposed to look?

ini file?

Why have you made ini file?

OK I will try again with all the files you said.

...and still nothing. I am supposed to run it through Ginge right? Sorry if I sound dumb.

You can try to edit "system.txt" file

it is

Code:
// OFFICIAL PORTS : PC, WIZ, WII
// UNOFFICIAL PORTS : HANDHELD, XBOX, PSP
system = WIZ;

// LOADING TYPE : POST, REALTIME
loading = REALTIME;

try to change to:

Code:
// OFFICIAL PORTS : PC, WIZ, WII
// UNOFFICIAL PORTS : HANDHELD, XBOX, PSP
system = HANDHELD;

// LOADING TYPE : POST, REALTIME
loading = REALTIME;

PS: Why this bloody screen become dark on mouse click???? :( Can be disabled?

Thanks pepppe - still having problems, but will persist. I dont seem to have the 'cpufreq'folder, though (could be due to running it through GINGE as well, as I have a Pandora, which may well be the root cause of my inability to run it. Have similiar problems running WIZ Frontier as well).

My directory looks exactly like that and it won't run either. I've used the updated Caanoo GPE file and it won't run by itself or via Ginge.

Still nothing. Would it be easy to make a Caanoo port that you can just run off of the menu? I am so pissed at Sega right now for ruining this for everyone. GRRRR!

Sorry, I have no others idea.

Game has a native support for WIZ, non caanoo.

@gaijin: cpfreq folder is not necessary to run game.

Ah... curious. Maybe my runtime folder is screwed, then. Sorry to be a pain, but would it be possible to know what exactly is in the runtime folder?

Hello

I am new to all this having only got my caanoo today but i gave this a go using the gpe file peppe posted and it works :) Very nice game although it does run slow. I dont know if the wiz cpufreq app will work on caanoo?

Im not sure why it didnt work for you jlenoconel. All I did was edit the system.txt to say 'system = WIZ' and 'loading = REALTIME' and copy the bgd-galaxian and bgd-runtime folders to the root of the memory stick then transfer the game with peppe's gpe file to memory stick root (folder called sor). I loaded the game on the caanoo through the Explorer tab (not ginge)

I did load the game once on the pc before doing anything, got to the main menu then quit. I dont know if that might have saved a configuration file somewhere?

Now if someone can tell me how to overclock this on the caanoo that would be excellent :)

I must be doing something wrong because I can't even get Galaxian to work. Glad you got it to work though.

What firmware are you running? I had to upgrade to 1.6.0 to get it to work, it wouldn't run on 1.5.0.

The overclock app seems to run on the Caanoo but it's still pretty slow, even at 800mhz.

Well, I am actually still at 1.0.6 because most people tell me there is no real benefit to upgrading. I'll have to think about upgrading. Damn SEGA!!!
