Ok so I think my pandora has a series fault.

Here's what happens.

Been playing on a few bits and loading emulators in etc it's been all good.

Today though PSX reArmed which was working fine went to a black screen as soon as I selected a game to boot from.
I could only get out of it by doing a reset.
I eventually thought hmmm weird maybe I need to up the clock speed, so from main menu of the desktop I went -system-CPU speed and altered it to 600 and Black screen and had to reset again.

I then revolted and tried 550... FINE 575... FINE but 580... Screen freezes and I have to reset.

Not sure what to do does this def sound like a hardware fault? Or could it be software??

it WAS working at 600 as I tried that on uae4all the other day to see if it sped boot times up.

Help.

That's a software bug.

Should be fixed within the next update.

Check this thread:

Easiest fix: Remove and reinsert the battery for now (withou AC connected!)

I thought all pandoras could definately hit 600,, could try using opp4 to increase some power

edit :ninja'd ED's reply much better than mine

Hi you need to post this in the Help section, normally when a pandora freezes up and does not go higher than a certain CPU speed i.e. keeps freezing the solution that worked for me and others was to remove the battery completely for a bit and then re-insert and should be fine. It's hopefully just a small glitch

I just did the biggest PHEW ever. Thanks for the quick response ED

Ps this is an awesome machine!

Oh and how cool is the little "first batch stamp" and message under the battery :D

Also remember that 500Mhz IS the maximum rated speed. Anything above that is a good thing, but not being able to go above that doesn't necessarily mean it's broken, just that it's running at spec.
The first time this happened, it was suspected that OPT had finally gotten some CPUs for which overclocking wouldn't happen, and there's a decent chance this still may happen in the future. Fortunately for now it was discovered to be a software issue.

500mhz is the maximum??

You should tell OP as the main website advertises it as 600+

In overdrive, yes. That requires increasing the voltage. At stock voltage, 500mhz is the maximum.

It's been a while since the last update; can we expect Hot Fix 5 soon (maybe with some of the fixes in that long thread about HF5 requests?)?

Is there a safe maximum limit on the clock speed?
Safe? Strictly speaking? 500Mhz at stock voltage, 600Mhz in overdrive.
Practically, overclockability will vary from system to system. Some will only hit 800, others climb above 1000. No one has destroyed their Pandora by overclocking though. What happens if you clock too high is it just ... misses a beat, so to speak. System crashes, pull the battery and start over. Doesn't really matter how high you overclock, the worst that will (should) happen is a system crash. Maybe your SD card gets corrupt if you do it at the wrong time. Point is there is the only maximum "safe" limit that can be guaranteed is the ones specified by TI and OPT, but no perceivable harm should come from overclocking.

You'd have to mess with voltage to get it that high (if yours will even hit 1ghz)

I sure hope mine is a 1GHz unit. Must... sleep... collect Pandora in morning. Man, I'm so excited. Tomorrow! Anyway, enough of my musings.

How to clock to 1ghz? The limit is 900mhz by default.
You can manually modify the values with terminal commands. EvilDragon is preparing to release Hot Fix 5 which will include a config that lets you set the max and min values, so wait for that.
