I've had enough. This has gone on too long. All this news about the Pandora and its many delays just makes waiting more and more exciting! Since june/julyish I've been obsessively keeping track of the Pandora. Reading (and learning) about the Pandora's long and rewarding development. After all this latest news it looks like this will all be coming to an end. No more delays and news, no more exciting information about progress and no more guesstimations of the release date. After release the only thing I can hope to look forward to is progress in emulation and homebrew development.

How have you been experiencing the Pandora development? Was it exciting? Or maybe it was tiresome? Do you think you'll enjoy the Pandora as much as you hoped? Or do you think the Pandora will turn out to be a overhyped pile of garbage? Do you think you'll miss these days of the forum when it was all about the Pandora's development and progress?

God bless Pandorica

I've been around since May, It has been exciting, and I think that things are SO MUCH less ambiguous than back then. We know what is left in the line of things to do now, It will not be a heap of garbage.

You are asking for someone to scold you by the way..

TBH I'll kind of miss the developments and updates too, in a happy sort of way. It's been quite the experience waiting until now. In a month and a bit it will be 2 years since I joined this forum and started keeping track of the Pandora. It's been exciting along the road, a bit frustrating, but not having a Pandora hasn't really been any skin off my back and I'll enjoy having it all the more. I'm sure that it will be everything I've dreamed of and more. If it isn't, I'll revolt. (No pressure, Craig). XD
But yeah, I'll miss checking the blog and seeing that more pics came out, etc...
This is assuming that the Pandora even comes out at all.
:p

There are certainly aspects of this period that I won't miss :p but yeah, I reckon the first batchers who hung in there will look back on this year pretty fondly. (The ones who have hung around the forums, anyway.) And there will be more to look forward to, like the suspend function and other firmware improvements.

The blog will keep going of course. The only planned change at this stage will be the addition of some new categories for software releases. B)

you guys are talking about this like its made by some people we've never heard off, if it cant do something you want it to, look into how to get it to do that specific *thing*

Did you post in the right thread?

I have been following it ever since Fall-Winter (I think mid December) 2007 and have enjoyed all of the updates one of the early pre-orders and forgot about it up until this July and then started checking it once a week now I'm up to once a day to sometimes twice a day.(Very Excited) and I'm sure it will measure up to what I was hoping for maybe even more. :D

I like the delays

there's no delay, wasn't it always planned for the next 2month?

joke aside, what getting me sick is those trolling thread that occurs regulary and always from the same peoples... whould think a ban would make theses forums more enjoyable...

I have been following it from the first mentions on these forums a few years back. Despite being patient like most of the others and in the beginning excited about every mention of it, I have to admit the interest has gone rather down from where it started. It still is going to be a nice device and I am sure it will happen eventually, but repeatedly waiting two months for about two years is a bit depressing. There was a series of unfortunate events (hi Mr. Snicket!) which the creators managed to overcome, which should be esteemed, and the slowly increasing number of videos of sweet software keeps the Pandora fetching, yet so many things has happened in the long long waiting that the goal of it has sort of lost its shine. Maybe someone else feels a bit sad about it that what was expected to be the pinnacle is probably going to be just another machine in a row.
In spite of this light frustration I am still looking forward to testing every piece of software on the Pandora when it arrives ;)

I havn't been waiting as long as most of you, but as long as it can run OMF 2097 and Another World in Dosbox (and it should), I don't see any reason to be disappointed!

OP: good questions, here are my answers:

How have you been experiencing the Pandora development? Was it exciting? Or maybe it was tiresome?
I jumped on rather late, but had a peek in when it first started up. I didn't have interest at first because I wasn't sure if this was going to be real or not. After I found out it was still alive and kicking a few months ago, I jumped in, and it's been fun ever since. I don't think there's been a day where I didn't check the forums, and it's become part of my daily routine. It's been exciting seeing pics trickle out, new parts, case parts, boards, etc... It's only tiring waiting for each pic to come out, but in a fun way.

Do you think you'll enjoy the Pandora as much as you hoped? Or do you think the Pandora will turn out to be a overhyped pile of garbage?
My expectations are based on videos of working development hardware and word-of-mouth from the OpenPandora team, so I'm pretty sure it will do what I want it to do. If the controls are fail, that'd be the only thing that won't meet my expectations.

Do you think you'll miss these days of the forum when it was all about the Pandora's development and progress?
I don't expect I'll miss it too much because I'll be more focused on new software, OS updates, and peoples' new mods and such. I think the forum will get more exciting once it's released, if anything.

No, love it. It gives me something (else) to do every day! I will miss it but I hope we will see lot's of development of the OS and games, apps etc.

Do you think you'll enjoy the Pandora as much as you hoped? Or do you think the Pandora will turn out to be a overhyped pile of garbage?
It's a computer. I love computers. Yes, I will enjoy it!

Oh, same answer as first question really...

I'm going to have an amazing time with the Pandora. If it feels as good in my hands as it looks (like your Mom), then I'm definitely going to be spending late nights with it doing all sorts of weird and kinky things.

The whole development process has been very interesting to say the least .. all the standard rules have been broken, over and over (e.g. don't announce until you're ready to ship, always test, test, test, etc.) but I think the dev team has really done a good job of keeping things together and persisting in spite of the major setbacks over the years.

What I look forward to most of all is the onrush of mad development from the crazy and kooky dudes and dudettes that have stuck it out this long, and I really hope we get some original titles on the Pandora from day one .. it would be very nice to see some weird shit hitting the wires in March 2010, for example ..

Also, I can't wait to play MAME with the Pandora controls. Crazy Climber will finally be something I can play in bed, after all these years .. :)

I've enjoyed watching the development process very much. Some real insights into what it takes to build a console from scratch. Some hilarious moments too. I miss Quasist immensely.

It's the machine I've always wanted. In fact it's better than the machine I've always wanted.

The GP32X forums will always be about the Pandora's development and progress. Give it until this time next year and we will have a mountain of excellent software.

I almost never read thread, nice to see it's a twist.

As gaming isn't my primary use for it, it has been a tough wait, but a very interesting one though. The forums has been a rollercoster ride at times, but the pic's, updates from DEV's and just hearing what everyone has to say (especially the technical discussions) has made it fascinating none the less.

I'm expecting to be even more hooked once it's out, waiting for updates on software for it, seeing what people are doing with it, even just skins etc. In my eyes, it just has so much scope I really am eager to see what people do.

I'm even expecting it to get me back into gaming, amazing since I don't have any interest in DS, PSP, or any of the consoles out at the moment

I just can't understand all this romantacising of the long wait. For me, and I'm sure plenty of others, it's just been irritating.

I pre-ordered in December last year and I never imagined that I wouldn't have it for my flights in April, let alone my flights in September and more than likely, my flight this December. I no longer have one of the jobs for which it would have been extremely handy.

Now I'm not saying I don't still have a million and one uses for the device, nor am I saying that I'm not excited about eventually receiving the device, but I have not enjoyed the wait by any means.

I'm sure a lot of people who have moaned about the wait will look back and think 'oh it was quite fun, really' as it's human nature to look back through rose-tinted glasses but I, for one, will just be happy when the thing is finally in my hands!
