So I've had my Wiz for about 2 months. I never updated the firmware (and I don't know the current version... where do I find that?) because I wasn't having any issues for the most part. I use this thing EVERYDAY. I've run through at least a dozen battery cycles.
So last night I turned it on and go the the "launcher" section and everything I had in there is GONE. The Mp3 player, all the games I downloaded.... it's all back to stock. OK... so I hook the thing up to my computer as I've done many times in the past... my laptop doesn't detect the Wiz... OK weird. So this morning I hook it up to my desktop... doesn't detect the Wiz.

A) What the F is going on? and B ) What are my options for fixing it?

I don't have a memory stick for it (never needed one, have no problem getting one though), but I guess I'll be needing one since that's the only way I can get anything on it now.

help?

I can't give you advice about your options, but you should avoid altering the nand (onboard memory) as much as possible.

What do you mean by "alter" it?

I think he means reading and writing to the NAND on a regular basis (mostly writing). The reason being that flash memory has a limited amount of writes, but SURELY you didn't surpass that this quickly. I'd see about exchanging your unit. It's too bad it took this long for an issue to show up.

Really? You're not supposed to add stuff to the onboard memory? So that's it? Nothing else I can do?

The only thing I would worry about with this is things like mame saving hi-scores and junk like that. I have smc's that are better than 10 years old that still work fine with a pretty good deal of writing to them, but they do eventually start giving errors. That is almost CERTAINLY not the problem in this case. Sounds like the Nand disk has become corrupted and a format of the free space might fix it, but I would wait for more experienced WIZ people to answer.

No, it's not your fault. Any flash memory (and hdd too) in any device has the same problem, but it only affects the memory after years of intensive use. So only if you wanted to use your Wiz forever then you shouldn't write anything to the internal memory.

Just so you guys know, I got a SD card for XMAS, used it update the firmware and now everything works... for now. So if anyone has this problem, that's what I did to fix it.
