I must be blind, because I hear about people pre ordering these. But I don't see any place to pre order it. Can someone post a link to it?

If you e-mail OpenPandora, they should have some extra units left over to order.
I have just email if they had any left?
Do you know if there is any emulators out for it yet?
I haven't done much research on it, because the way you have to pay is a little "dirty" to me. I rather just click on a shopping cart. :(

Hehe, me too. :D

I gather they have a dozen or so emulators working already, so there should be some of your favourites available upon being shipped - assuming your favourites are SNES, Sega, PS1, Atari, etc.

There are many emulators in development for it that have been demonstrated - simply google "pandora console emulator video"

As for the payment method, to a newcomer it does seem "dirty." However for those of us who have seen the roadblocks the dev team had to overcome to take payment, it is understandable why it must be paid the way it is.

Openpandora is holding my money and I have nothing but complete confidence that the product will be delivered. I am one of a few thousand.

One last question.

Since it seems they are selling these in batches, and selling it through bank transfer and other ways.

Do you think buying one of these would be more simpler.(ex. Using a credit card, and simply clicking buy, and it goes into shopping cart,etc..), because I am in no rush into get one of these, and would probably wait to buy one to see if there are any recalls of some kind.

Yes it would be more simpler.

EDIT: Although it could just be simpler.

If you're in no rush and you are not sure what you're buying (haven't done much research), then I would encourage you to relax and wait. Watch the first batch come out, read the reviews, let the kinks in the software get ironed out. By the second or third batch (which should come quickly, BTW: all the things causing delays right now will be done) one can even hope a bank somewhere will have gotten a clue and begun accepting credit cards again on behalf of Openpandora. Why throw $350 at something when you don't even know if it will do what you want?

OTOH, if you read the FAQ's, review the forums, and think this is just the device you have been waiting for -- and if you're willing to be a guinea pig for its initial growing pains -- then welcome aboard!

Yea, think I will be waiting for the first batch to go out and wait for the small glitches to be solved. Then perhaps purchase the second batch, when paying becomes easier and more safe, even though it is already safe to buy from them.

Yeah, they've said the second batch should be shipping by the end of the year.
I don't really have access to my money right now, and I don't think my parents would approve of buying something that hasn't been made yet, so I'm just chilling until the second batch.

The second batch will be sold through other distributors in other countries - some will probably take credit cards and be simpler -- like PlayAsia perhaps?

I bit the bullet and preordered one of the extra units.

My original DS screen met an untimely demise on the metro during rush hour a couple of weeks ago, so I guess it was meant to be.

I must admit, I was somewhat won over by the demos of the hardware in action. This must surely be the first portable powerful enough to actually be its own complete dev kit.

I'm all excited now.

Loonie, have you done any emulators for the Gameboy Advance?

Emulators?? As in programmed them? Good lord, no. That's way beyond my scope.

I am hoping to maybe create a few little things for the Pandora, not to mention trying to get various pieces of Linux-compatible music composition software up and running on it (I am hoping Blitz will be persuaded to create an ARM compiler for BlitzMAX).

But emulation requires a level of beardiness way beyond my mere stubble.

Nope (my zaurus, heck, even my old palm pilot could), although it's probably the first *gaming* handheld, and only because it's got a keyboard as standard. :)
